Awarded Highest New Jobs Creator in the ITES category at STPI Karnataka IT Exports Awards 2014
Bengaluru, November 25, 2014: Amazon Development Centre (India) Pvt. Ltd, the India-based software development company of leading global online retailer Amazon.com, has been awarded the Highest New Jobs Creator in Karnataka in the Information Technology enabled Services (ITeS) category by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Karnataka IT Exports Awards for the financial year 2013-14. The award was conferred to Amazon in a ceremony held at Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre earlier in November.
On receiving the award Raj Raghavan, Director Human Resources, Amazon India said, “Amazon has been in India since 2004 and we have a long term commitment to the country. Our employee base in Karnataka serves both our Indian and global operations and has grown by 37% in 2014 compared to the previous year. We continue to be aggressive in our hiring outlook as we scale up our operations in India in our endeavour to be India’s most customer-centric company.”
Amazon started its operations in India with a Development Centre in Bengaluru in 2004. In 2005, Amazon expanded to Hyderabad and in 2006 to Chennai. Today Amazon has its presence in India and is growing rapidly.
Amazon teams in India work on complex business challenges to innovate and create efficient solutions that enable various Amazon businesses -both in India as well as globally - including Amazon websites across the world and also support Payments, Transportation, and Digital products and services like the Kindle family of tablets, e-readers and the store.
“Amazon is proud to have some of the finest talent and strong leaders with proven experience working to make Amazon the Earth’s most customer-centric company,” added Raghavan.
Amazon.com opened on the World Wide Web in July 1995. The company is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. Customer reviews, 1-Click shopping, personalized recommendations, Prime, Fulfillment by Amazon, AWS, Kindle Direct Publishing, Kindle, Fire phone, Fire tablets, and Fire TV are some of the products and services pioneered by Amazon.
