The organization's welfare initiatives address 5 core issues for quantitative and qualitative development of poor and disadvantaged:
o 5 High schools for girls who otherwise drop out after class 5th due to lack of such facility within their easy reach and 2 primary schools in Chouparan block
o Community based special school for children with mental disabilities, Cerebral Palsy and the deaf & blind
o Rural women functional literacy
o Sponsorship to girls for secondary education and delaying early marriage
o Lord Buddha home for orphan children
o 100 remedial coaching centers in 3 blocks of Hazaribag district
o 8 non-formal education centers in Patna Slums
• Health, Hygiene and Sanitation
o Jagriti Program (Integrated Nutrition and Health Program including awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDs and STD/RTI.
o Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program for persons with disability, inclusive education and Community Mental Health Program.
o Reproductive health education and convergence of services program with awareness and safe behavior against HIV/AIDS/STD/RTI including Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health.
o Primary Health Services through rural health camps.
o Hygiene & Sanitation and Solid Waste Management Program with 70,000HH.
o Loknayak Jaiprakash Eye hospitals, one at Chouparan, Hazaribag and other at Dumka for providing eye care services.
• Socio-Economic Programs
o Providing jobs and self-employment to youths through Market Aligned Skill Training with its 8 centers located in different parts of Bihar and Jharkhand through which over 14,000 youths have been trained in last 5 years on ITES, Hospital Attendant, Beautician, Agarbatti Training, Vermi Compost, Goatery, Piggery, Mobile Repairing, driver etc.
o Watershed and Agriculture Programs in Dumka, Koderma, Hazaribag and Khunti districts
o Providing micro credit to women for socio-economic development and sustainable livelihood
• Mass awareness and Social Action Program
o Putting people’s grievances in front of concerned authorities.
o Drawing govt. attention for proper implementation of developmental schemes.
o Influencing the policy makers to make it pro-poor.
o Pressurizing the concerned authorities for transparency.
o Demanding equal status for women.
o Fighting against atrocities on women and dalits.
o Manav Jodo Abhiyan- promoting inter-caste/inter-religion/ love marriages without dowry based on gender equity.
o Family Counseling Center-to resolve family disputes.
o Panchayat election and promotion of women candidate.
• Small group Support Program
o NBJK is running this program for the last 10 years and have been able to assist more than 300 VOs/ NGO’s/ SHG’s of Bihar and Jharkhand. They are given fellowship grant, small program grants and capacity building support.
