Amazon.in to make faster deliveries in Lakshadweep starting this Festive Season
Expands its presence in the island through its own delivery network to delight customers with quicker, on-time deliveries
Bangalore, India – October 5, 2017: With the onset of the festive season, Amazon.in has announced presence of its own delivery network in Agati, Lakshadweep. Amazon.in’s existence in the form of a Service Partner in the island will now enable faster deliveries to customers via the expanded line haul and last mile delivery network. Amazon plans to soon expand its deliveries into other islands of Lakshwadeep.
Commenting on the commencement of deliveries via Amazon Logistics in Agati, Lakshadweep, Mr. Akhil Saxena, Vice President, India Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India said, “We believe customers, no matter where they reside, value fast & reliable delivery. With the increasing demand from non-metro cities, and the limited logistics infrastructure available in this region, we have now set up our own delivery network in the Union Territory of Lakshwadeep. This will enable us to better serve our customers and also support our Prime customers with free and fast delivery.” Mr. Saxena added, “Expansion of our delivery network in will create numerous opportunities for local entrepreneurs in the region to scale their business to greater heights under Amazon’s Service Partner Program.”
The Service Partner program is one of the last mile models by Amazon Logistics in India wherein entrepreneurs act as Amazon.in’s local distribution network providers and create the last mile delivery footprint. Currently, the company has over 350 Service Partner nodes across the country, of which one of them caters to the delivery needs of Lakshadweep.
