Amazon.in distributes laptops in government schools in Bhiwandi
Supports digital learning to empower students with access to quality education.
Mumbai, March 09, 2017: Amazon.in, under the aegis of its ‘Amazon Cares’ program distributed laptops to 25 government schools in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra to brighten the lives of the students through digital learning. In line with its vision of supporting the development of the local communities it operates in, one of the main pillars of the program is to promote education and facilitate quality learning amongst children in communities coming from low-income family backgrounds. Aligned with the Honourable Prime Minister’s ‘Digital India’ theme, Amazon.in is supporting digital learning in these schools to provide students with access to quality education.
Amazon distributed 25 laptops in the presence of Mr. Ganesh Mahtre, Tahsildar, Bhiwandi Taluka and Mr. Sanjay Jadhav, PA of Deputy Collector of Bhiwandi to help these government schools leverage interactive teaching methodology to engage with students better and help improve their overall learning experience. All government syllabi have been transferred to these laptops, allowing teachers to teach using projectors in an immersive and interesting manner.
Around Diwali last year, Amazon.in digitalized two government schools - New English School in Amane and Adarsh Vidya Mandir Secondary School in Kurund as part of its continuous efforts to provide access to digital learning to children in Maharashtra. The company distributed E-Prashala kits, 7 laptops and close to 100 Kindle devices in both the schools to provide students with access to quality education.
Sharing his views on this initiative, Mr. Dhananjay Ramaswamy, Director, Fulfilment Center Operations - East and West, Amazon India said, “Our CSR vision is to create opportunities and empower communities to transform lives. We aim to provide quality education and improve learning through the use of digital literacy tools to facilitate all-round development of students across all age groups. To provide access to quality digital learning to students in these government schools in Bhiwandi, we have distributed laptops to help them utilize interactive teaching methodology to engage with the students better.”
