The headphones come with 5 different sizes of eartips so you can find the best fit for your ear. The eartips have a dual-flange design to provide a snug and comfortable fit for optimal stability and noise isolation. Pros: the overall soundstage is wider. The highs are a bit more crisp and detailed while the lows are tighter and more controlled as well as just as punchy if not a tad bit more. The mids are on par with the SE215's.
I love the cable guide that keeps everything from getting tangled due to the fact that there's a slot for the L-plug to fit in.
Good looking earbuds (metal/ metal-looking). Sound isolation is good with the double-flange eartips. I prefer silicon over foam. My ears haven't become uncomfortable even after 20-30 minutes of listening, always a good sign.
Cons: since these are straight down, the micro phonics aren't as good as over-the-year. If you're gonna be moving a lot expect a bit of cable noise. The cables are thinner than the Shure cables. This does worry me slightly about its durability, only time will tell. No iPhone/Android in-line mic option.
I wish instead of the 1/4" adapter (seriously? I have actual headphones for that) I would've gotten foam earbud tips. Overall very solid for the extra $30 in price over the SE215's. I haven't even done proper burn-in yet and they already sound better!

But this Yamaha is better! Very clean sound and comfortable using.
Its worth searching for reviews from The Headphone List, and Digital Trends, both who rate this item highly.
Myself, I find the tonal balance to be spot on, at least for my preferences, i.e. bass level in relation to midrange and treble levels. Good, warm but solid bass, with open midrange, and a slightly recessed but very clear treble. They have very good resolution for their price. They aren't boomy and aren't screechy. And they are comfortable, and don't tend to slide out.
The sound Quality is indescribable, Listening to some Hi fidelity recording of events i witnessed, i was shocked by how well the sound was replicated. there was also not a single genre i could throw at these that didnt amaze me, Rap, MetalCore, Opera, Classical, Dubstep, Hardstyle, GrooveMetal, Country, Musical Play Pieces, everything was amazing.
I got a very nice feeling when running through some of Decaf's Bass mixes with my buddy, His Klipsch headphones didnt even register any of the bass tones, while my Yamaha's where producing mind bending bass.
Long story short. Worth every penny and more
Some more Pros
-I have never had them tangle
-Stay in my ears
-Construction is phenomenal
-Noise Isolation is great
-The case bucks
-the ear pieces are harder than hell to remove
