Note, this DOES NOT plug into the teal ipod connector. It plugs into an open port on the bottom back corner of the receiver. I almost threw it away thinking the cable was wrong.
After plugged in, go to settings and enable auxiliary in, NOT aux +, or digital aux. Then it'll work. I think people who say it doesn't work haven't enabled the correct aux channel.
Note for CDA-9855/9853 owners: Make sure you check that the Aux-In setting is turned on in Settings, and the Ai-net switch on the bottom of the head unit is set to "NORM". Mine was set to EQ/DIV, and I did not get any sound until it was switched to NORM. I thought I received a defective cable and wasted 30 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong!
My commute is a lot shorter now and the ability to just throw some new music into an MP3 player and play it immediately is a huge plus for me.
That said, the overall quality of the connector is fair to poor, it doesn't seem sturdy at all, but that's okay given the low price point and the age of the connector. For me on a CDA-9847 it worked fine once the AUX input was enabled in the stereo settings. The connector did require some strong force to seat properly so there would be no distortion in the audio and I have yet to determine if vibration will wiggle the connector loose but for now it's working fine. I'll figure out a fix at a later date should I need to.
For the price and what it does this connector is an excellent purchase. Just be sure your stereo unit is compatible with this type of connector before purchasing!
