When all her efforts at political maneuvering, sucking up and even doing her job fail to land her that elusive promotion, Sitara decides it's time to use the new marketing head Abhimanyu's obsession with his horoscope to her advantage.Soon, she's rescheduling meetings, pitching ideas and picking launch dates based on his horoscope. Except, Sitara is so focused on manipulating Abhimanyu with the career section of his horoscope that she doesn't pay attention to the personal section. Hilarity ensues when these star-crossed signals result in Abhimanyu pursuing Sitara romantically, without realizing that the 'signs' are engineered coincidences in her quest to get promoted.
Soon, Sitara is faced with choosing what she really wants-a career progression or true love. She must chart her own course even if what she has in mind may not be what the stars ordained. Written in the Stars is a romantic comedy about life, love and whether the biggest things in life are the choices you make or what destiny has in store for you.

My take on the book: “Written in the Stars” by Divya Anand is a Romantic Comedy about life, corporate competition and love, all tossed well with the seasoning of astrology. This is Divya Anand’s 2nd novel and as a writer she has done a fantastic job. She has refrained from the cheesy lovey-dovey romance and given it a refreshing touch of horoscopes and stars. The language and the editing is perfect. Aah! that makes me so happy when I read a book. She has kept the story interesting with humor, trivia quiz which will get you racking your brains too and rom-com, which will want you to keep turning the pages.
Sitara has been scripted as a head strong, career oriented and an avid quizzer, making her completely likeable. All the characters have done justice to the story. The Astrology angle gives and interesting take to the book, making it stand out from the otherwise typical rom-com books.
The book took me to my office days where work was mixed with gossip and some samosa and chai to go with it. If you enjoy a light and quick read, this is surely for you. Weekend is around the corner, so order your copy here and get ready to have a relaxed reading this book.
I give it a good 4 out of 5 stars.

She brushes her friends the wrong way and takes advantage of Abhimanyu’s vulnerability hurting everyone in the process. Is he naïve to not see through her devious plan? Can Sitara trade everything dear to her for a promotion? Is our destiny really written in the stars? This book is a fun take on these seemingly ‘serious’ questions.
My thoughts:
Set in Bangalore, this book promises a fun read right from the first sentence. Grappling with the punishing name picked out by her toddler elder sister, Sitara is at ease with herself amongst her friends while guzzling down either a beer or a Starbucks coffee. Her extreme competitive attitude is endearing at first and reaches astronomically crazy proportions as she foresees losing out her promotion to her manipulative colleague, Dhruv.
Written in the Stars has a lot of interesting elements that bring the story beautifully together. The challenges of a start-up, the process of product-design, everyday office politics and unrequited love make it seem like a real experience. Girl-bonding is the best thing at the centre of all this madness. Kavya is the darling friend we all need in our lives and Inaya is the cute niece anyone would want to have around.
Abhimanyu Singh, despite his strange astrology obsession is irresistible. His self-assuredness and chiselled features make you fall head over heels in love with him. The best part about this book though is the trivia night. I found myself wishing for their week to roll faster so I could see what’s in store for them. I hope George visits Mumbai and gives us a try too. Just kidding!
To sum up, expect loads of laughs in this book and some sullen moments to balance them out. Even stars twinkle, don’t they?
Sitara, our protagonist is a smart, likeable, ambitious and strong-wiled women who works as a product manager in a start-up. She is a hit amongst her friends and is pretty easy going, but when her promotion is threatened by her colleague Dhruv, Sitara decides to take things in her hand and makes some irrevocable decisions.
And to her luck, a new marketing head - Abhimanyu Singh joins the Company who is extremely good-looking, intelligent, attentive and is astrology-obsessed. When Sitara learns about this, she starts taking help from the stars. Soon her meetings, presentations and launches all align with the dates beneficial to him. When luck favours love isn’t to be left behind! Abhimanyu feels Sitara is his shining star. But does Sitara feel the same? And even if she does, what will she choose? Read the book to find out!
What I really loved about this book is that, it is the perfect blend of drama, romance, corporate competition with astrology. Also, I absolutely enjoyed the trivia quiz which made the book more interesting. The writing is absolutely lucid and light. If you love light rom-com books or are looking for a quick read, I would absolutely recommend Divya Anand’s second book Written in the Stars.
My rating for the book is 4.5/5
