That takes me to the wetness of the wipes and probably the main source of the issue. Like I said, these appeared to be working great... until the screen started to fully dry. My last wipe (fresh cloth, up and down) resulted in a VERY hard to buff-out up and downward streak across the whole screen. You can see it clearly in the image where the camera flash caught the streak in the middle of the screen, it is much more visible sitting in front of the screen.
One star added since these wipes did clean everything off of the screen that many other wipes have trouble with. The horrible streaking and my aching elbow from buffing out the streaks removed any chance of a higher score.
I used these wipes a few days back to clean my MBP display. The initial performance was poor enough: there was a nominal amount of the linty/dusty material that other reviewers have mentioned, but the streaking was absurdly bad for a product expressly intended to clean displays. After going through 3 wipes total, I gave up and went with the strategy of trying to align all the streaks in the same horizontal direction to minimize how distracting they were.
I didn't get around to trying to properly clean the display again until today, at which point I discovered that the larger splotches in the streaks have left permanent blemishes on the screen; I'm not sure what the exact process was, but it has the appearance of having chemically eaten through a layer of finish on the monitor screen (see pictures).
Not sure what else to say - I'm just dumbfounded that a name brand like Windex would peddle this garbage.
They stay moist inside the pouch, as long as you make sure you reseal it after opening.
I snarfed hot chocolate all over both monitors, the web cam, the desk, my keyboard... all of it. I have been unable to clean it off the monitors very well. My desk is very deep and the monitors sit far back, so they're already difficult to reach, but the chocolate was fairly thick and my attempts at cleaning it just weren't satisfactory.
Since newer monitors have a type of plastic screen, I don't want to use anything that might cause clouding over time, and definitely don't want scratches. So I gave in and bought this stuff.
Well they were pretty impressive. The material of the wipe itself is lightly textured by what I call pressure quilting. Basically exactly like embossing paper. It was fairly thick as well, so no worries of breaking thru if I needed to scrub a little. It was quite soft so I have no scratching worries.
Whatever the fluid is that they're moistened with was quite effective as well. The thick towel and formula easily took care of the chocolate splatters, even when being used as awkwardly positioned as I was where I couldn't get much coverage at a time. No scrubbing necessary, and it took just 2 towels to do both monitors and their stands and the desk under them.
1 side issue I very much appreciate is that they aren't perfumed. There seems to be a very light natural scent if you sniff it directly, but nothing added as a perfume.
No clouding at all either. So I'm quite pleased with these. I'll be sealing these up well so they'll stay moist for future use.
