5.0 out of 5 stars A Book to read before we quit our hobby of reading :)
Reviewed in India 🇮🇳 on 26 March 2020
Dr. Shashank Shah has made a significant contribution to the academia through his valuable research and books. His priceless book 'Win-Win Corporations' is truly a treasure trove of information. Pragmatic spirituality lies at the core of his book. Dr. Shah has laid an equal emphasis on the ‘macro and micro level’ sociological issues. Being a sociology research scholar, I loved the chapter titled ‘The Taj Group of Hotels’ which highlighted perturbing social problems. It was really interesting to read that book has made a mention to ‘Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)’. Researchers usually fail to address micro level social issues like promotion of clean habits – washing hands with soap, using a washroom and keeping it clean, and adopting safe drinking water practices. It is very rare to come across a book like this which not only focuses on things going on at a superficial level but digs deeper to explore and describe a social phenomena from all the crucial aspects. It was really insightful and engrossing to read how Dr. Shah has dealt with intricacies of the corporate system and exploration of the best business practices. This book perfectly describes and explores contemporary social issues and challenges like prostitution, HIV AIDS, women empowerment, welfare of unorganized labor, weaver’s economic empowerment, women empowerment, and corruption. What makes this book stand out are the ‘narratives’ articulating pragmatic spiritual principles weaved with ethical business practices. Appendix of the book was worth giving a read for it represented the meticulous research carried out by the author for writing this book. I would suggest the paperback copy of this book for all those researchers who are required to take note of the page number for references or in-text citations.
