The Games are Forever!
It's one thing to Qualify and Compete...
Now she must Win.
Gwen Lark, nerd, geek, and awkward smart girl, is among the lucky ones. She's one of several million teenage refugees to escape the extinction-level asteroid barreling towards Earth and reach the ancient colony planet of Atlantis.
But Atlantis is a strange new world with higher gravity and a blazing white sun, where nothing is as expected. The new arrivals from Earth will now belong to the majority class of non-citizens who face a lifetime of hard work and limited rights.
To make matters worse, Gwen's rare and powerful talent, her Logos voice, is viewed as a potential weapon to be exploited by the Imperator, as well as a threat to the Kassiopei Imperial Dynasty and its uncompromising control over the people of Atlantis.
A last-minute heartbreak prior to arrival turns to joy, when Gwen receives a declaration of love from an unexpected source. The Wedding date is set, but before she can be joined with her true love, she is forced to compete in the brutal and deadly Games of the Atlantis Grail to save herself, her family, friends, and everything she cares about. Once again, her intelligence, quick thinking skills, resilience, and creativity are challenged to the breaking point.
The Games are monumental, intricate, lethal . . . and the Games are Forever.
This time Gwen must fight and figure her way through the most difficult and sophisticated contest she has ever faced. Terrifying Ordeals and impossible Challenges, ruthless skilled Competitors, vicious secret assassins, and dubious teammates she must work with but cannot trust, are just the beginning. . . .
Meanwhile, as the Games rage, the fate of two worlds is at stake as a new alien threat looms over Earth and Atlantis.
But Gwen Lark has a secret weapon of her own. It's not her Logos voice and its untapped power to control orichalcum technology and perpetuate change.
It is Gwen herself.

About the author

VERA NAZARIAN is a two-time Nebula Award Finalist, 2018 Dragon Award Finalist, award-winning artist, a member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and the author of the high-octane adventure YA dystopian apocalyptic science fiction series THE ATLANTIS GRAIL that has been optioned for film, and is in development as a major motion picture franchise or TV series.
As a double refugee, after immigrating from the USSR during the Cold War, and then escaping from the Civil War in Lebanon (by way of Greece), she spent 35 years in Los Angeles, California. She now lives with three wacky cats in a small town in Vermont and uses her Armenian sense of humor and her Russian sense of suffering to bake conflicted pirozhki and make art.
Other work includes critically acclaimed novels DREAMS OF THE COMPASS ROSE and LORDS OF RAINBOW, the outrageous parodies MANSFIELD PARK AND MUMMIES and NORTHANGER ABBEY AND ANGELS AND DRAGONS, and PRIDE AND PLATYPUS: MR. Win's awe-inspiring.
Waiting for Survive is slowly killing me...
I hope I survive the wait!!
;-)
It's a very difficult book to put down without finishing. I enjoyed the whole series so far. Can't wait for the fourth book!!
Top reviews from other countries

In this particular instance, I was grabbed well and truly,, and immersed my self in Gwen's life. I have read the first 2 books in this series 19 times each, and 2 days after release am on my 3rd re-read of Win, now waiting for the 4th and final instalment to be written.
This book continues in the very next second, after Compete finishes, and is gripping, I dont do spoilers, so I wont say more about the story line, but the writing is detailed, which appeals to me, descriptive, imaginative, and makes the story come alive inside my head as I read, like I would view a film in a cinema. Very few writers manage to grab my attention like this, and I read a lot, mainly across the Sci-fi/fantasy genre. I read a book like most people would eat a meal, either enjoying it or walking away. This series of books is a top class buffet, and has me looking forward to each page turn, and new twists in the plot. Ms Nazarian has a way of painting images in my mind using words instead of a brush, and Gwen, and the "cast" are as real to me as my children. Bravo Vera, now I just have to wait for Survive!

Now, to get the few minor negatives out of the way first..
I do agree with what several other reviewers have said regarding the last section of the book. For me, the last 2 stages of the games and the ending did feel somewhat rushed. So much care was put into building the atmosphere of the first two stages so you really felt like you were there and this was somewhat lacking in the last two for me. Particularly the final stage and race which I really enjoyed and would have loved that to have some of the embellishment of the earlier stages. Also I would agree that the ending was a tad abrupt, I would have liked a more detailed reunion between Aeson and Gwen after all she had gone through!
That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the book on the whole and it was a real page turner, I read it in 3 days straight, even with having to drag myself to work! I personally enjoyed the first part with the detailed training etc. It felt like it was setting the scene and building the relationship between Aeson and Gwen which had, intentionally, been stilted an undefined up until then. It was also nice to include the other characters from the previous books.
It was a shame there wasn't more of their relationship growing in the later parts of the book as that is what I really enjoy about this series. The focus was put on the game stages of course but i kept looking forward to the interactions between Aeson and Gwen. It still feels as if they are somewhat uncomfortable with each other but I suppose that's intended also! I am very much looking forward to Survive and hoping it will be a happy ending that we are all hoping for!

It's been a long time coming but I now have a new book series to add to my top five ever. Vera Nazarian really has the most fantastic and vivid imagination and has created a fantastic journey for our lead characters, Gwen and Aeson. Now on Atlantis, we find out what happens to the couple after Aeson's seemingly panicked announcement that Gwen is to be his bride. His father, the Imperator, is not to be outdone in his wish for Aeson to marry an 'appropriate' bride from an ancient bloodline, and grants Gwen her 'wish' to enter the Games of the Atlantis Grail. Here we go back to a scenario similar to Qualify, but much, much more dangerous. The emotional highs and lows we suffer with the couple are heart rendering and I was reduced to tears several times. There were many new characters to love and hate and some remarkable descriptive writing of the various stages of the competition itself. I love the historical inclusions and the pegasei look to be an interesting addition for the next book. My only gripe is that Aeson didn't feature enough. Anyone who has bothered to read this far in my review, do yourself a favour and download this series, you won't regret it. Well done Vera, this series deserves greater acknowledgement and to be noticed by the film makers perhaps!

As a writer/novelist myself, I sometimes find I am hypercritical of another author's typos [inevitable], sentence construction [expected] and methods of delineating speech from thoughts. BUT not in this series. So wrapped up in the story was I that I did not care that there must have been the odd error. I truly cannot recall a single one although I know they are there. I am on tenterhooks waiting for Survive. Oi Nazerian! Get a move on woman!

Have just finished Book 3, now waiting for next in series and what an AWESOME series it is. This is the first series in a very long time, where one of the passages literally brought tears to my eyes with the fantastically written evocative emotion. The descriptions and feelings are so real, it is as if you are there, living it.
The series starts off in the middle of an event; it literally drops you in at the deep end and carries on from there, with drama after drama.
I don't know whether this series would be classed as YA but I am much older and didn't find it young at all. Just full of adventure, drama, emotion, love, thrills and a totally possible believable story-line. This is so much a four Film option (where's Peter Jackson?) or even a television series, although a film would probably have a budget big enough to do justice to the story.
I am now hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for Book 4......
