only at the beginning author gives a few examples related to the topic of book.
waste of money.
don't recommend it.
The author Rakesh Godhwani is a known name in persuasive communication arena. With more than one successful book published in his name, his expertise is nothing to be scrutinized. His experience and expertise is something that you can benefit from by understanding and practicing his techniques. The main highlight of this book is – AEIOU and Xtra E technique. He follows a set format wherein he scrutinizes the given scenarios under these elements.
More clarity imparts more confidence and increased confidence leads to better communication between the two parties (i.e. speaker and listener). In addition to the description and the analysis, he makes this book an important tool by incorporating practical scenarios and working exercises. The readers (and the teachers / professors) will find it as an useful resource for a long time.
The feature that makes this book stand apart in the crowd of similar books from same genre is inclusion of – when to shut up. Yes, though, generally we all advocate the importance of silence but very rarely, we are able to bring it into practice. He touches upon the points where ‘Silence’ is the key and using this ‘key’, he unlocks many opportunities for the readers to identify and grab!
Personally speaking, I have represented one of my past employers in the capacity of Communication Manager and thus, I could very easily understand his guiding principles behind the book. I recommend this book to almost everyone who can read and wishes to communicate effectively irrespective of age, qualification, profession or say gender. I wish it had some more examples about the psyche and implementation behind when and how to shut up.
Pros: Examples, case studies are mostly contemporary or of famous personalities, hence they are easy to relate with. Writing style is simple and could turn out to be one sit read. Tips about number of slides, number of words in a presentation slide based on time constraint are helpful for at any level.
If you have not been to a good presentation skills, communication skills training then you this a must read book for you.
