And you feel that HIGH once a book is finished, eager and enthusiastic to apply all the knowledge you've gained and to see some results.
And the days go by... you slowly realize you're actually going nowhere, atleast not as much as you desire and expected.
You know what to do, you know how to do, but you won't seem to be able to apply the knowledge in realtime. And it sucks, i know that feeling.
And you slowly fall into the vicious circle.
You slowly take some other book that you hope atleast will help with your problem.
You pick a book.... you'll read... feels motivated.... days go by.... you realize.... it sucks... you start again( i hope)
THIS IS WHERE "TheWARofART" is a LIFE SAVING BOOK.
When you see that you're going nowhere even after knowing what to do. You'll slowly fall into the depressing thought process that may be YOU WILL NEVER BE THAT GUY YOU WANNA BE.
In every self-help book that we read hardly anyone was able to put the problem we are facing in such a way like in WARofART, where it truly kicks in your ass and makes you aware of the RESISTANCE you're facing ever since you know your self.
if you suck at taking ACTION about anything, and feeling how to do it. Just pick up this book and read it... take the book with you, when ever you're feeling of resistance or its disguised forms, read few pages from the book.
I bet you wont be sitting there idle once you finish this true gem of a book.. but will go and do your long held unfinished, undared stuff.
This is my first review ever since i'm puchasing books/anything from amazon. I thought of writing for some.. but you see RESISTANCE is a b***h. but now I did.
It's all those simple actions that makes a difference in a long run. And WarOfArt will help you beat the RESISTANCE and take that ACTION.
All the best. :)
a still, small voice is piping up, telling you as it has 10,000
times before, the calling that is yours and yours alone, you
know it, no one has to tell you. And unless im crazy you are
no closer to taking action on it that you were yesterday or
will be tomorrow”- Steven Pressfield
“Late at night have you experienced a vision of the
person you might become, the work you could
accomplish, the realized being you were meant to be?
then you know what Resistance is” - Steven Pressfield
If the above quotes resonate with you ,then pick up this slim book…all of 140 pages and it will end up becoming life changing book in your life .If you can confront your resistance, then nothing and no one can stop you from achieving your dreams. But first start small….
What I like about this book is the way the author nails the issue that is stopping everyone from living their dreams. This book goes in detail and explains how Resistance is wreaking a havoc in your life and how you can take the reins of your life back and live your grandest, highest vision you have for yourself. It’s a slim book all of 140 pages and it is worth spending time on this book.
We all have that inner voice urging us to follow our heart and to live our dreams. As we grow up we are instilled with fear for uncertainty and somehow we are asked to make choices based on what is conventional, stable and secure. This is the phase where most of us stop believing in our dreams and finally make peace with the reality of a soul draining job and convincing ourselves with lie that only fortunate people can live their dreams.
(I was one of them)This is the book that will change all that and point out the reason we are not living our dreams is because of Resistance that is fuelled by fear.
We all dream of a work where our skills and passion lies…be it in Music, acting, direction, painter, writer, player and the only thing that stops you from achieving that dream is that negative chatter in your mind that is very clever and will go to any lengths to stop you from taking small step towards your goal. The stronger the resistance the more closer you are to your dream life.
The author himself has faced this issue every time he used to sit down to write. The only way to beat that resistance is to say to it ”im gonna do it whether I like it or not” mantra. Sometimes you just have to show up for your life work everyday by practicing your skill ..that is the secret of beating your resistance. The author points out what is important is to show up and do your work…as simple as it sounds. That is the only way one can better their craft and become the best.
Read it!! It really is life altering book to live your dreams…..
This book is divided into three parts. Part one defines the enemy (what prevents you from getting stuff done) and names it - "Resistance". Steve identifies all the different characteristics, manifestations, and impact of "Resistance". This part hits you hard as you are most likely have to experienced "Resistance" in its many forms (like self-sabotage, and self-deception). Steve makes sure that he does not let you off the hook.
Part two provides you with a plan to defeat the enemy ("Resistance"). Steve describes the attitudes and actions (in different circumstances) that you need to take to turn pro.
Part three explains the benefits of sustained effort in mastering your craft. Steve goes over the different approaches to honing your craft and common pitfalls to avoid. He ends with an inspiring reason for why you should pursue mastery of your craft. (You may find references to Angels and Muses discomforting. Steve is emphasizing his advice – don’t look for validation and don’t condescend to your audience)
