*******I received this book in exchange for my honest review*******
Let me start my review off by saying this was the best book I have read so far this year! This book was epic, from the witty, funny, and captivating characters, to the plot-line that was well-written and unique. I honestly haven't read any books from this author, expect for this one, and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long! You know how, when you meet a person and their personality speaks to you and you become best friends? Well, this is how I felt about this author's writing. It just spoke to me and my personality.
By the way, I have claimed the main character of this book, Ali, as my spirit animal. She's mine people! LOL
Gosh, I loved everything about this book and it's one of my all-time favorite books. EVER! I love books that can make me laugh, cry, and feel all these amazing emotions. When the characters feel like real people, I know I'll never forget a book. Ali and Gabriel felt like family. Like I have known them all their life and was seeing their love story blossom before my eyes. I love that their relationship wasn't easy. That it was complicated and messy. I love Insta-love, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I need to read a good book where the characters hate each other upon first sight and grow to love each other. It's, not only funny to read what they think of each other, but it also shows you their transformation from being enemies, to lovers.
My advice to you? Get this book. Please, please get this book! You will not be disappointed because this book phenomenal and this author knows how to draw all these emotions out of you. Not to mention, the writing style is unique and the characters are likable in their own way. I'm definitely a huge fan of this author and will be reading all her books now!
Alison Eckrich is a young women who just moved back to Canada from the states. Having self-esteem issues, which rooted from her mother whom only saw her flaws, she rather observe people then participate in discussion. When she helps an elderly man home, she is offered a job, which she needs, but there's one problem. Earl's grandson, Gabriel, hates Ali upon sight. Ali doesn't care what he thinks of her, having thick-skin and all, and accepts the job. Her only request? That she can leave work at six so she can get home. Every night Ali watches her neighbors through her window. She knows every neighbor she has...except for the man whom just moved in next door and fascinates her. He brings out a side of Ali that she never knew existed, and when he sees her watching him, sparks fly and Ali doesn't know whether to hide from her desire for the man, whom she has never seen's face before, or embrace her desire.
To Gabriel Madoc, women are a complication. He has been hurt in the past by a woman who still haunts him, so he avoids relationships of all kind with women. When he sees Ali helping his grandfather, he instantly dislikes her and thinks she's up to something. What he wasn't expecting was meeting a woman who was his match. Who didn't back down. And whom didn't take his crap and pushed back when he tried to keep her away. She was loud. Bossy. And if he's honest, all kinds of crazy. Why is it then that he can't stop thinking about her? When he finds his new neighbor, watching him after an intimate moment, he can't get the thought of that night out of his head. He didn't even see this woman's face, which excites him. He comes up with a plan and rules for this new game his neighbor and he seem to be playing: No names. No faces. And absolutely no attachments to each other.
But when they realize who they are talking to, will the fantasy be ruined? Will everything they feel for each other bring them together, or break them apart?
This book is brilliant! I would give it ten stars if I could, but unfortunately, amazon won't give me that option. I recommend this book to everyone! Want to find a new to you author and a great book to read? Look no further! It has the perfect amount of romance and humor that had me so engrossed with the characters and the plot! This author really is talented and I look forward to reading her other books she has out.
My favorite quotes (I usually add several quotes at the end, but I was so engrossed with this book I forgot to highlight my favorite parts!! Here's a few I managed to highlight):
"You listen here, boy. Life is full of complications. It's how you deal with them that determine the type of man you are."
"You're my kind of perfect."
