About the Author
Since 1937. Merriam-Webster is America's foremost publisher of language-related reference works. The company publishes a diverse array of print and electronic products, including Merriam-Webster's Collegiate(tm) Dictionary, Eleventh Edition - America's best-selling desk dictionary - and Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged. Merriam-Webster can be considered the direct lexicographical heir of Noah Webster. In 1843, the company bought the rights to the 1841 edition of Webster's magnum opus, An American Dictionary of the English Language, Corrected and Enlarged. At the same time, they secured the rights to create revised editions of the work. Since that time, Merriam-Webster editors have carried forward Noah Webster's work, creating some of the most widely used and respected dictionaries and reference books in the world.

Which means if u read each unit everyday, which is very time consuming, then you are smarter person with 1200 words in your memory within a month.
Good book but only con is that it is way too small and the small fonts might effect your eyesight.
Consider reading word power made easy which is much better book as compared to this.
You better not to try this book.
Waste of money.
it is a good volume that will help you prepare for tests.
In Unit 11, the root taken up is 'cant', which means 'to sing'. The chapter discusses
related words like cantata, incantation, cantor and descant--all these words have
something to do with singing or music.
In Unit 12, one root is 'theo', which means 'god'. The words discussed below the
roots are: apotheosis, atheistic, pantheist and theocracy.
The best in the book are the discussions for each word. You will fall in love with
words and English Language if you read this book carefully and with interest.
I have, already.
I have one complaint: the volume packs a lot in it; too much to digest, I would say.
