I first checked an area rug that I was pretty sure had urine stains - sure enough, I found that my dog had marked it. With the naked eye, you don’t see those purple rings around the urine, but in the picture you can see the yellow where there is a splatter of urine. Time to get out the carpet shampooer!
The product descriptions give suggestions such as writing and decoding secret messages with this light which sounds like it would be fun for when the kids are over. It also suggests that you can find bugs and mold. I think I’d rather not know about the bugs, but the mold would be a good thing to know about. I think having this at a hotel or other places you are staying would be a good idea too if you are ocd like me.
1) I bought it specifically for the purpose of detecting tomato hornworms on my tomato plants. Hornworms glow a gentle green color under UV light, but nothing like that happened with this flashlight. How do I know, i.e., supposing there were just no hornworms to be found? I actually did manage to find a single hornworm while using this flashlight, but it was by chance---it certainly didn't fluoresce green as it was supposed to. I just got lucky after a LONG time of searching my plants for hornworms.
2) Even setting aside the hornworm issue, this flashlight started dying on me after the SECOND use. I only bought this thing a couple of weeks ago at the most, and I'm frustrated that it's already giving out on me. During its first use, I couldn't have used it any longer than ten or fifteen minutes tops, and a good week or so intervened between that initial use and my using it again tonight. And I didn't even get that great a use out of it tonight; just a couple of minutes into my hornworm hunt and the light was all but extinguishing.
Bottom line: Save your money and buy something better.
