Can he save the Guide from a hostile alien takeover? Can he save his daughter from herself? It's safe to say that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is one of the funniest science fiction novels ever written. Adams spoofs many core science fiction tropes: space travel, aliens, interstellar war--stripping away all sense of wonder and repainting them as commonplace, even silly. The trilogy of five is full of good humor and is written in a style that you won't find anywhere. If there is one fiction series that you want to read, this is it.
A must read for science fiction fans which pays a homage to the theory that humans are rather inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. This book is a satire on human intelligence and arrogance . There is nothing new in the story and yet it is a breath of fresh air.
The nearly definitive edition is a large hardcover omnibus with a beautiful cover. The only thing missing is a bad a** dust jacket.! The paper quality is the best among all the variants of the book ( paperbacks have really bad paper quality). The spine of the book is one of the best and will hold on for a really long time (probably till your grandchildren dont mess it up). So, in my opinion, this version is the best to have on your shelf. Totally worth the money.!
Makes me wonder if there're other issues with the book!
The book I received didn't feel like a well made one. The covers and the pages seemed of a lower quality. Took away some of the charm of the book.
Everything else besides that is absolutely lovely.
