Its decent for a SSD. But due to its small capacity it fills up fairly quick if you update windows. Even going through the Windows defender updates will fill it up eventually, imo. Personally for me it only improved my boot speed and overall virus scan speed as my system is already very high end. So for the price to performance I might not recommend it. But if its all you can afford and really need the minimum, just get this.

The Linux/Unix OS fits easily onto a 8 or 16GB USB pen-drive so why have a 300GB or larger HDD whirring away? As a user you did not pay the Micro$oft Tax so why not reduce things.

Formatted in ext4 this unit is quite fast enough to keep my ancient system operational into the future. As it will only store the OS I won't loose a great deal of important files and being so small if used as part of twin disc Raid Array the rebuild time will be minutes not hours.

The only problem is that sub 250GB SSD are difficult to find with a branded name attached, although the M2 versions seem to be the real route into the future freeing your computer to operate at its full potential and are produced by the big names in chip and HDD production.

But for the moment this SSD looks to be well up to meeting the demands I am ever likely to place on it.

Ideal Pi Database disk.

Requirement: Small SSD to replace a disk drive used for a small Postgres database on a Raspberry Pi running Bacula as a low power backup solution for a small/home office. A genuine SSD rather than USB flash offers much lower power consumption, higher access speed and longer life. While the HD was working well there was a constant disk noise and 24/7 operation is not for a portable "spinning rust" drive.

I originally bought a cheap Kingspec device that was a total failure. Happy to say this has now been in place for two weeks and was subjected to a comprehensive set of tests on both a Pi and a "proper" PC before being used and it passed with flying colours. Latency on disk access is much reduced leading to three times the throughput during backups as it's not waiting so long to update the catalog.

My only surprise is it still needs to be run via USB hub (this is connected to a USB to SATA adaptor) as it cannot run directly off the Pi's own USB ports, but of course the adaptor has its own power needs. The disk is the smallest in the range and is still eight times larger than needed, so hopefully wear levelling mean it will last for a very long time.

The unit feels very light and is very cool in operation.

The above product is great! Note that the 64GB turns out to be roughly 60GiB, as expected. I use this drive for the Windows 10 Home edition. At it's current configuration, with a few small Windows Store Apps installed, plus Norton IS, WIndows has consumed 39.2GB, leaving 20.8GB over for user file storage. That suits me fine too, since I prefer to keep my personal files down to the minimum. If such a config suits you, then this is the best drive to buy. The larger Transcend SSD's are more cost effective, in terms of $-per-GB, but I don't require the extra storage space. Keep in mind that Flash Memory wears-out: One needs to check periodically for bad sectors. Look for more info on the Internet.

I purchased this drive to boot Hyper-V server on a Dell T610 server, plugged into one of the SATA ports on the motherboard, and it works perfect for this. Using this SSD is much easier to setup than loading Hyper-V on a USB flash drive, and about 1/2 the cost (At the time I purchased it they were ~$43.00) of the USB flash drives on Microsoft's recommended hardware list. It has been running 24/7 for 7 months now without a single error or retired block showing in the S.M.A.R.T. data.
