Book is very well organised in terms of knowledge and exposure to techniques. Its has a good balance of Photography Techniques, Equipment, Composition, Lighting , Post precessing, with a very good introduction to Different domains such as Landscape , Portrait , Macro, Under water and more.
Videos aid in conveying the idea Tony and Chelsea Present in the chapters. A blend of books and Videos from the authors with their YouTube Channel is an amazing way to start this never ending journey into photography.
Though Yet to own a SLR rather my first Digital Camera ,restricted by finances as a student I have been postponing it for later in life. I bought this book before a 14 hrs long journey, reading this book has inspired me to start with what I have. I have been experimenting with my mobile camera and I realise there is a lot you can learn even before you get your camera.
I strongly Recommend this book for amateurs and beginners for a strong and clear basic foundation. I am sure a hobbyist or even professional can gain a lot. Authors have shared a lot of resources. I am definitely buying the next Book for Lightroom and eagerly waiting for the one on Photoshop.
@Authors The story behind the covers of the books is amazing. Though I am a bit late for Christmas but here are some wishes.
I thank the authors for this amazing book and learning resources they provide.

The way u explained every thing was grt, got to learn few new things, got a lot of answers for the doubts I had,
There were few just 1 or 2 links I guess I couldn't understand y were they added,
The only picture I found with good quality is the cover may be this is because it's an E-copy but I wish the pics were looking good for a bit more better understanding, and the videos helps.
I have been through 3 chapters of this books and already learnt many tips that i didn't knew.Tony explains all the photographic terms in simple language,He cover all types of photography
a)portraits
b)animals
c)macro
d)weddings
e)landscape photography
f)Underwater photography
He also has dedicated a chapter to solve common a Amateur photographer may face while making pictures.
I think next book that a newbie must read is Understanding exposure by Bryan peterson which covers the 3 most important aspects of photography:
a)aperture
b)shutter speed
c)ISO
Overall tony and chelsea have done a very good job here.A very nice book.

Can't fault it too much though, it does what it sets out to do, in most cases. Couple of chapters are a bit lacking.
This is a book for people who've just picked up a camera and have no idea how to use it and want to have just a basic understanding to take some nice holiday or family pictures. If you want to work in Photography maybe give it a quick read but quickly graduate onto other books.
It's a training wheels approach to photography. Which is my issue lays, it doesn't go above and beyond the call. It sits comfortably within the confines of only telling you the absolute basics. It has that jack of all trades, master of none feel to it.
Everything's going to be explained a little bit, but nowhere near to the point where you're going to have an actual comprehensive understanding of anything.
If you're a beginner, you should absolutely read this..
If you've been about photography for a while you should really avoid this, unless you want to learn something you may have missed.

The book is a synopsis of Tony and Chelsea's approach and really will help you understand what makes the difference between taking a picture and making a picture. If you want to be a technical numbers guru, and spend weeks and weeks with your nose in a pictures by numbers book while your camera never sees the light of day, this book is not for you. If you take the approach that you can get out there and learn from using your camera with just a little bit of guided thought from the book - you'll love this book.
I'll finish this review with a testimony to the materials produced by Tony and Chelsea - both printed and multimedia - and say a huge thank you to them both for removing the smoke and mirrors from the photography world and making it more likely that we will all use our cameras more productively. Thanks guys.
