-First of all, if I'm going to have a clock chilling by me at night, I don't want it putting out crazy EMF levels like your standard plug in the wall clocks. Battery powered such as this put out little to no EMF.
-Great sound! Radio sounds great and best of all the alarm ringer is the best I've ever used. The reason being is that it gives you a good 5 second or so of a pleasant sounding beep, before the nails on a chalk board kicks in. Naturally this incentives me to shut it off before I end up on the ceiling, or I'll push the easy to hit snooze button.
-Tiny - easy travel, if necessary (If and when I travel this thing is coming with me for sure).
-It doesn't have a neon laser beam lighting up the room. Sleeping in a room that looks as though it's something out of the Matrix seems to be the standard these days...are people crazy?
- the big snooze button also acts as a light, while it's pushed down.
-extremely easy to set alarm and change the time. My last alarm clock I had to be inspector gadget pushing buttons for 5 minutes to change the time. The last thing I want to do when I'm tired is perform engineering tasks.
-just one tiny little battery operates the thing. I imagine it will last a long time. Maybe I'm just old school, but I remember the days when you needed battery power sufficient enough to run a space shuttle on all electronic devices.
cons - it's not the first thing you would want to grab to throw at a home intruder. It would probably break and would do little damage to the recipient. It's fairly light, yet seems durable enough to stand normal abuse. If you're cranky in the mornings and perform the throwing the clock against the wall when the alarm goes off cliche', this isn't the alarm clock for you!.
However; still a very delightful little Alarm Clock Radio and ideal for travellers and which fills my gap for a `Timex' Alarm Clock Radio in my ever growing collection, and so I shall be most certainly be retaining it!
Nice looking and attractive, but just don't expect too much for its size. Reasonably priced as Timex battery Alarm Clock Radios are pretty thin on the ground...
I love the size and design,(the silver was a nice change from the blue one I'd had before) and have used both the radio and alarm functions especially when traveling.
But I use it nearly every day even if I don't have to use the alarm feature.
I have never been a fan of digital clocks in the bedroom with their ever-glowing, glaring reminders of what time it is, so my favorite feature of the Timex is the pop-up lid that I can easily open, if and when I need to, to check the subtly illuminated, but totally readable time before deciding to get up or to shut it and get more shut-eye!
