You might be unaware of the perils of Internet Addiction. It was a light and ridiculous term for Shikhar too until it gripped him. Once he came to know of its crippling nature, life changed for him. Will Shikhar be able to get rid of his Internet Addiction? Or will it lead his whole life in the virtual universe of likes and emojis? The dialogues and settings are familiar and not taxing at all even for readers beginning their reading journeys. An applause to the writer for that effort alone.
With a fresh new concept of a rehabilitation center for internet addicts, the scope and potential of the story was indefinite. With a tighter editing and better plotting, the book could have been sharper. I found quite a few sections repetitive and characters defined and driven by a single agenda without any layers or introspection.
Some sections are great where the author imparts pearls of wisdom and presents the everyday reality in a matter of fact manner.
Choosing a topic with a social message without coming across as pedantic is not an easy job. You can take that liberty while writing non fiction but for fiction authors, that’s the dark side which one can never cross over to. The author definitely passed that test in his debut.
I have a few bones to pick though. I just wish he had spent more time on the rehab section of the story allowing the readers to fully grasp the nature of this addiction. The stories of other inmates could have been explored further to display the repercussions of abusing the internet. As a reader I was left wanting for more.
Having said that, I would affirm that it’s a must read for the young adults as this is the group most likely indulging in some “Timepass” on the internet.
I wish the author very best for his future projects.
Now after reading the book :Timepass-Story of Internet Addiction, I am sure. I am also an internet addict. Now I am trying to come over this addiction. The book is really nice to get you realize that surfing internet for no reason is bad for your life.
The most interesting character I found was Sandy, he was so careless and funny from starting to end.
Well as written in book too, its a matter of self realization......if we don't accept we are not addicted. But I would recommend this book to everyone who uses internet whether for personal use or professional use. PERFECT READ
DR. NET NOT- VERY FUNNY AND INNOVATIVE NAME :)
The book journeys through the self realisation of a sickness that has struck you. Unless you accept that you are a victim or you're in the wrong and need to protect and correct yourself, you cannot really be helped. Only man alone can control himself.
