I use the thermometer mainly for cooking steaks, chicken, and hamburgers, and it really has changed the way I cook. I didn't have much confidence on the barbeque until I started using the ThermoWorks thermometers. My daughter also recently used the thermometer for a science project where she had to get accurate temperatures, and it worked like a charm.
We highly recommend the ThermoPop and other ThermoWorks products.
This is simply the best $30 thermometer ever and one of the best at any price. What I really like is that it is compact, easy to carry, temp reads level at any angle and is very fast to temp.... The only other products that work as well are cell phone size with probes and wires and I just don't want or need another device to carry around when I am cooking.....
There are other products that "look" like this, I have a drawer full (well, only 6) all ranged in price from $15 to $30, all seemed to be a good at the time, but proved to be slow and not accurate....
As I see it, the $30 price for this unit is fair to begin with and considering you are going to spend at least $15 on something anyway... and like me you'll probably end up not using that $15 unit because it is not accurate and takes too long to get to temp. Consider spending a few dollars more, buy this ThermoWorks, ThermoPop thermometer, end your search, and be happy with the first one you buy.... By the way, the two units that ranked above this thermometer cost $150 and $200 and are pretty bulky.
Psssst.... My adult kids are getting these for Christmas, but don't tell them...
