The story, characters and the twists in this book are mind boggling. I just just couldn't put it down till the time I almost reached the end and that part I saved for after dinner reading. Completely thrilled with this one. Ashley's character has been described and developed very well in the book that one can understand her fully as well as relate to her completely. Narration is very simple and makes for a racy read. These 388 pages will be very easy to navigate and you can also skim some parts if feel like. It is very immersive and engaging and the interest levels will remain very high.
Another masterpiece from Sheldon.
Now. . coming to the book, this was my first SIDNEY SHELDON novel and I admit that this has increased my hunger of exploring more into the genre of fictional ThriLLers. I completed the book within a span of 4 readings in 3 days. The first half creates the ideal background of an engaging thriller, with twists and turns in the plot at ideal places, keeping the reader hooked to the story. The pace of the story has been impeccably maintained, so as to keep the reader guessing at the turn of every page.
However, the second half of the plot seems a bit stretched, with unnecessary description of the court proceedings. But hold on. . . When you just about start to get the feeling of a predictale end towards the climax, there is something unusual waiting for you in the last page. There lies the beauty of the ending, it is implied with two small clues rather than being stated directly - if you realize it at the first attempt, you get the spine-chilling feeling of wrapping up a classic thriller !
About the writer, creating a sensational story around such a controversial and complex medical issue such as MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDER, that too more than 15 years ago, is indeed a work of praise. He has adeptly explored this challenging medical condition by linking it with an important issue like child abuse and sensitive human emotions.
Highly recommended for all readers, especially those who enjoy pure unenpredictable suspense thrillers.
1 STAR LESS for introducing unnecessary sub-plots and diluting the suspense effect at some places in the story.
Story - I would like to disclaim that this book is for a mature audience.
The story is a psycho-thriller where story takes you to different places that are connected to one another. The twists and turns are enjoyable but does nt hv much suspence. After the first have it basically has court sequences with a final reveal in the end.
This book keeps you hooked as other sheldon novels.
don't think or search for further reviews as anything about this book could possibly be a spoiler ..
i would say one shouldn't miss this kind of a book (especially if he is a fan of Sheldon)
buy and own a happy reading !
Phew..glad I picked this book.
I have read several of his books...each one has a surprising plot...

Here we find Ashley Patterson accused of causing a series of brutal murders. She takes a lie detector test and passes, but other evidence proves that she did indeed commit these murders. Her trials becomes quite a sensation throughout America as evidence piles up against her, but she maintains her innocence.
A book full of murder, rape/sexual abuse, romance and certainly intrigue this is the ideal thing if you like thriller stories with pace, twists, turns and keeps you guessing right until the end.
