When I first got the package, and opened it there was a white and clear blister package - not the nice box displayed in the images for this product - not a big deal, but not what the listing had lead me to believe. Looking at the band in the plastic box, it looked scuffed and dirty - thankfully, that was just the protective plastic film on it! Opening it up, and removing the film showed a nice, shining strap free of any scratches, or marks of any kind.
The Band and Attaching it to the Watch:
The band is not light, being stainless steel it has a nice heft to it. It has a brushed finish, which is smooth to the touch. The butterfly clasp opens easily enough, but when closing the clasp only the first side will give a satisfying *click* - the other has a very muted click, often making me double check whether it has actually closed; other metal bands I have used in the past have both given satisfying *click* noises. Inserting the two quick release pins into their slots on the band itself was a breeze - and you are given one extra.
Fitting the band into my Moto 360 2nd Generation watch was also simple. The quick release pins fit right in, and held snugly in place. The band has a firm-feeling when in place, I made a few test pulls on the band without it budging.
The pins holding the removable links are not the standard solid metal pin, they are spring loaded pins (like what is normally the pin which connects a band to a watch); so a full removal of the pins is unnecessary. Just push down through the pin hole on one side, bend the link some and it will pop out. Do this for as many links as necessary.
When removing links I noticed a black substance between links. I am unsure of what it was, but it felt greasy - yet powdery somehow. It came off each time I took a link out and some pins were just coated in it and left a nice dark spot in the cloth I was working on. I may do a quick cleaning on the band later - looking on the internet for what this substance may have been yields no results.
Putting it back together was easy as well - just align one pin into a hole, and press the other one down while pressing the links together. You will hear the pin snap securely into place.
Having owned an original Moto 360, with Motorola's official metal band I wanted a nice metal band for my 2nd generation watch. This band is a nice one, and I like it - but it is not the best band I have used. It fits nicely once sized properly, and took no time to do so - no need to visit a jeweler for this band.
+Heavy, does not feel cheap
+Quick Release Pins fit nicely
+Easy to remove links
-Butterfly Clasp doesn't have the same click to each side, and the band endpoints are slightly misaligned where they meet
-Odd black substance between links
-Mine has a single chipped link (visible in one of my images), but every band is different
