We'd like to return BOTH units for some kind of credit - if at all possible ?? I know we didn't install/need them right away; However, once we got to that point & installed them, the Sony TV just "blinks" 3-times and goes back to the RED led front light & a black screen; Yet, when we put back the original/used lamp - the Sony TV "blinks" 3-times and goes GREEN w/a picture screen - as you would have expected w/the new ones that were ordered thru Amazon this past June-2017 ....
I deducted one star right off the bat because delivery was sooo slow. It took 9 days to receive this item USPS. The three stars rating, other than the super slow delivery, is actually quite meaningless because I have no idea what the life span will be which, in my opinion, is the most important factor. I bought this bulb without doing much research. I wanted a backup lamp so I bought the cheapest one I could find. After having plenty of time to actually do some research on this item- 9 days to be exact- I have come to the conclusion that I'll probably get what I paid for- a generic lamp that may work fine for 2?? months. The housing the lamp is encased in looks ok. I'm no expert but the lamp/bulb definitely "looks" much cheaper than an original Sony lamp.
On my 2006 Sony KDF-E50A10 tv installation of the bulb is extremely simple. Literally takes a minute or two to pull the old lamp out and replace it with the new one. **Simple suggestion that may make a world of difference in how the picture looks on your tv: Clean/vacuum all the dust out before installing the new lamp.**
BOTTOM LINE: If I could do it all over again I would have paid a few dollars more and purchased this lamp from Amazons competitor that starts with an E and ends with bay. One seller in particular gaurantees the lamp for 12 months or they will replace it or issue a refund, whichever you choose, if not fully satisfied. That bulb is actually listed as a "Sony" under type and brand as opposed to this one which is listed as "Generic". I purchased this bulb 11/25/2016. As of 12/8/2016 the price has dropped $3.29. My guess is that because of all the poor reviews they're trying to dump them while they can... Lesson learned: Don't make hasty decisions when making online purchases.
UPDATE 4/24/2017: I installed this bulb a few days ago and so far so good. This new bulb makes a HUGE difference. Awesome color and brightness. Fingers crossed on the lifespan.
FINAL UPDATE: DO NOT BUY THIS REPLACEMENT LAMP! LAMP DIED 8/2/2017. **LASTED 3 MONTHS 10 DAYS**
