From the Publisher
The proliferation and misuse of small arms and light weapons is one of the most pressing security threats of the 21st century. From Sudanese refugees hunted by gun-toting militias to air passengers targeted by shoulder-fired missiles, no one is safe from this deadly scourge.
Providing a gripping overview of these cheap and easily obtainable weapons, the threat they pose in the wrong hands, and strategies for reining them in, this Beginner's Guide is required reading for anyone wishing to fully understand one of today's key threats to international peace.See all Product description

Just a treatise on the history of the AK-47 and RPG; various atrocities committed in different parts of the world; and why passing the UN treaty on gun control is so important.
I won't even donate this one to the public library's book sale.
Not new to the study of small arms, I also found the book a refreshing review that goes beyond a beginner's interests. After reading Schroeder's chapters, I learned a great deal about portable air defense systems in Nicaragua, an important issue for the region I cover and for US leaders.
Overall, I give this book a high mark because it caters to students in their search for a complete understanding of the small arms trade. For venerated researchers and experts, this book is also a worthwhile reference.
I look forward to the next edition.
