Every year, around 40 million devotees visit Tirumala and take darshanam and divine blessings of Lord Venkateshwara. Tirumala is the most visited place of worship in the entire world. Many hindus (correct term is, Vedics) visit at least once a year. We get to see the Lord for just a few seconds and feel so happy. We approach the Lord not only in Tirumala , but now a days almost every village in India. Not just India, Sri Venkateshwara temples in USA are among the richest and most visited temples as well. Unfortunately, hardly anyone knows the history. We do not know that about 1000 years ago, people did not know whether the deity in Tirumala is Sri Venkateshwara or some other Devatha. Imagine, if we had not known about the Archa form of the Supreme Lord, what would be the situation today. Our Vedic culture and traditions would have long gone, with no peace and harmony in the society, no generosity and caring for one another and so on. Hardly anyone knows who is responsible for whatever we have today. It is the grace of Bhagavad Ramanuja. Not just Tirumala, but Srirangam and many other important temples all over India are still running because of Bhagavad Ramanuja who established the traditions about 1000 years ago.
It is very unfortunate that we are enjoying the benefits of Sri Ramanuja's efforts and selfless service to all humanity, but we do not know about Him, we do not celebrate His birthday, we do not know his messages. We definitely do not know very important milestone, that it is His 1000 birthday in 2017, and we do not know how fortunate we are to live in this year.
People now a days think we are very busy, and we think we do not have time to know about our history and be grateful to those who gave us an identity and showed us the right path. If someone starts explaining, we get many questions first, we doubt the people who are telling us, and we doubt if it really happened. For those who have doubts, and for those who want to explain what exactly happened, this is the perfect book.
It is very clear that lot of research went into writing all the important events from Bhagavad Ramanuja's life, and relate it to how Bhagavad Ramanuja transformed the society 1000 years back. This book gives key messages from Bhagavad Ramanuja, and how they are relevant even today.
In one sitting, we can read the entire book, and we get the feeling of being with Bhagavad Ramanuja.
I prostrate to Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji for bringing Bhagavad Ramanuja so close to us. Dasoham to the lotus feet of Sri Swamiji for guiding the author in writing this beautiful life story of Sri Bhagavad Ramanuja, guru (acharya) of Lord Venkateshwara.
A short biography of Sri Ramanujacharya Swamy (1017– 1137 CE). A vedic theologian, philosopher, and one of the greatest exponents of equality and service.
