From the title one can understand that it's a book which deals with the very idea of mental health. So this book like any other book is not just a self help and motivational book but much more then it. Since the Very beginning of the story you will get the idea how the term mental health has been evolved and how it has been diagnosed. In this story we learn about a teenager named Yashasvi who is in the verge of ending his life, just because he couldn't take the emotional turmoil and he was depressed. And how he has been survived and became a motivation for others and to himself.
The book has been divided into six sections which gives you the whole new idea of mental health and illness which is always neglected by our society. The author has studied and worked a lot I guess to write this book because in this book you get the knowledge of everything starting of the illness to the present scenario. The very first chapters showed us the ugly side of early days where in the name of treatment the patients were tortured as hell. The physical and mental torture which the patients have been given is scary as death and unacceptable. The atrocities meeted out to them was unimaginable and how some knowledgeable person helped them to recover through love, care and support. The mindset of the people of early days to modern age has not been changed and how the ones dealing with any mental illness is neglected and get sidelined by people have very practically shown in this book. One also get to learn the differences between the actual meaning of the term mental health.
My mind is very clear now after reading this book. I thanked the author to write this story with such immense knowledge and in details. I liked the cover of the book, it attracts a lot of attention. If one must need to understand the concept and the history of mental health then they should definitely read this. The author has provided his theories along with other philosophical theories to make us understand the concept clear and the roots and causes of the illness and how to prevent them. Definitely recommending.
That's why after reading this book based on mental health and mental illness now I can say this is not just a written literature but also is a perfect epiphany of mental health and illness.
Why am using both terms mental health and mental illness separately ?
Because I have read this book and now am complete aware about the major and minor differences between these both terms. This is the power of this book that this book talks about every major and minor point in a very balanced and appropriate description. This book talks about the reasons and symptoms along with way to recover from this trap. From mental to physical health everything is described in this basis of facts and theories.
What I liked about this book is that being a self help it's litreally more than that and the way of crafting entire plot is mind blowing, the description of mental health in the from of stories are very helpful to understand every research theory, statics and case study. I Am from medical background that's why it was more special and easy to me.
From Possessed to Depressed, Defining Mental Health, Understanding Mental Illness, For and Against Mental Health Awareness, Stigma: A silent weapon, The Dull Golden Bird. Section II is the briefest and Section V the longest. Every section is relevant and based on real facts.
If you're a psychology students or you're suffering from depression or mental trauma this will be really helpful guide for you.
I would like to appreciate the author how he explained such technical topic in this easy language and to made this compatible for every reader.
Simple and easy language.
Based on real and proved facts.
Practically proved data.
I would like to recommend this book.
