How Sensodyne Rapid Relief Works?
The strontium acetate formulation in Sensodyne Rapid Relief blocks the tubules that make up the dentine. Blocking these tubules creates a barrier which prevents the nerve from being stimulated, thereby rapidly reducing the discomfort of sensitive teeth when directly applied with a finger tip for one minute.
How you can Relieve Sensitive Teeth in Just 60 Seconds with Sensodyne Rapid Relief
Rapid relief after gently rubbing a small amount of product onto the base of the sensitive tooth for 60 seconds.
What is Tooth Sensitivity?
Sensitivity is the short, sharp pain experienced when eating or drinking something cold, hot, sweet, sour or spicy. This is because of exposed dentine – the inner core of the tooth surrounding the nerve. This can lead to other problems if not treated.
What Causes Sensitive Teeth?
Dentinal hypersensitivity, or tooth sensitivity, is a common dental problem. It’s a condition that can develop over time, as a result of common problems such as receding gums and enamel wear. Most sufferers are between 20 and 50 years old. Tooth sensitivity can start to happen when the softer, inner part of the tooth called ‘dentine’ becomes exposed. Dentine lies under the enamel and the gums.
Thousands of microscopic channels run through the dentine towards the centre of the tooth. Once the dentine is exposed, external triggers (such as a cold drink) can stimulate the nerves inside the tooth, resulting in the characteristic short, sharp sensation of tooth sensitivity.
Adults and children 12 years of age and older:
1. Apply at least a 1-inch strip of product onto a soft bristle toothbrush.
2. Brush teeth thoroughly for at least 1 minute twice a day (morning and evening), and not more than 3 times a day, or as recommended by a dentist or doctor. Make sure to brush all sensitive areas of the teeth. Minimize swallowing. Spit out after brushing.
Children under 12 years of age: Consult a dentist or doctor.
For Rapid Relief: First squeeze a small amount on a clean finger tip and gently rub on the base of the sensitive teeth for 1 minute to a maximum of two times per day.
Stop Use and Ask a Dentist: If the problem persists or worsens. Sensitive teeth may indicate a serious problem that may need prompt care by a dentist.

The pricing, however, is pretty much on the higher side when compared to your regular toothpaste. However, I would actually recommend this paste if you are having braces, or if your teeth are sensitive to cold food items.
Do not use it excessively (two times a day). If your teeth has lost enamel in an excessive percentage, this can NOT help you apart providing temporary relief.
