4 years later, I have lots more freckles/sun spots that I want to get rid of. I picked this up from a Harmon drug store completely expecting to achieve the same results. I used it twice a day for almost two weeks. They must have changed the formula because now my skin doesn't peel at all, doesn't turn red and no tingling whatsoever. It feels like I might as well be applying water. Maybe they decided to change the formula because it was uber strong before, and perhaps they received complaints. But for me, this was the ONLY product I'd tried that was effective for my spots. I'm aware that the common knowledge is that it takes time and patience to get rid of melasma and sun spots. However, this product initially impressed me because of how quickly it produced such dramatic results. That is the main reason I purchased this a second time. So in fairness, it may have lightened my spots if I persisted longer. But seeing as it is recommended to use HQ for only 90 days before taking a break from it for a couple months, I didn't want to risk any more time on this product just to achieve minimal or no results. Exfoliation is a necessity in effectively lightening spots. Considering this newer version still felt like applying water after almost two weeks twice daily use, I don't have much confidence it will cause any exfoliation at all.
Such a shame because I recommended this product to anyone who would listen. I recommended this to my best friend a few months ago, who rushed to order it off Amazon. I asked her a few weeks in if it was working and I was shocked when she told me that nothing was happening. I just figured that maybe she got a bad bottle. Well, since using it again I know for sure this product just doesn't work the same as it used to. I can no longer recommend it.
1.) I'm currently living overseas and have items shipped to an APO (military) address. This item arrived a week before it's estimated arrival date! Win!
2.) Super-easy to use. Seriously. Just follow the directions, and you're golden.
3.) I've been using this for just 4 days and already have had someone ask what I'm doing differently because they can tell that my skin is looking more even! And I have to agree - this stuff is working wonders on my melasma :-) I'm looking forward to seeing how well it's worked after several weeks of use!
More info: I'm using this product in conjunction with two others that I purchased through Amazon, and one product I already had. I use "Scarguard Scarlight MD, 0.5 Ounces" morning and evening, after washing my face. I apply it only where the dark discolorations are. I let it set in for several minutes, until it's absorbed, and then I apply my moisturizer. In the morning, I use a L'oreal moisturizer that contains SPF30. In the evenings, I use "Retinol Cream (Vitamin A) - 2 Oz." (It's currently sold on Amazon with "+ FREE Herbal Authority Blemish Roll-On Stick with Tea Tree Oil" but I haven't been using the Tea Tree Oil). I looove the Retinol Cream - it feels great on my face and neck, not greasy at all and absorbs well.
I have twice now used "Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay - 2 lbs" after washing my face and before doing the Scarguard/moisturizer. Once I mixed the clay with water, and once with organic apple cider vinegar (the instructions allow for either). I must say, the vinegar time, I was freaked out for a bit afterward because my skin went Super-Pink! Like, magenta! I'm guessing the vinegar caused that... but, by the next morning my skin was all good again. I think I'll probably mix half water and half vinegar in the future :-)
Anyhow, I am supremely happy with all three beauty products - Scarguard Scarlight MF, 0.5 Ounces, Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay - 2 lbs, and Retinol Cream (Vitamin A) - 2 Oz, that I purchased on Amazon. They feel great and I'm seeing very quick results!
FYI, I'm a 30 yr old caucasian with fair skin (blonde, blue eyes...) that does tan but also is prone to freckles and especially to melasma.
