Some specs of the device:
1.6 Ghz Quad Core Samsung Exynos processor. -- unlike some quad-core devices I've used this one really has speed to spare, and never gums up.
2 Gb Ram memory -- adds to the ability to multi-task, which is one of the other great features of this device. The Multi-window app is actually very useful. While some apps don't go into multi-window at all (such as some games) all the regular apps like internet browsers, Facebook apps, google play, etc. all have the option of doing a split screen (which works both in portrait and in landscape ) so as to view 2 apps at once. A few apps, like google hangouts and Chrome, will even allow you to make a floating window that you can adjust size and position of on top of any screen. This is a big step up from the normal tablet split-screen, and having a floating window for texts or internet is actually really handy.
Only 8mm or 0.31 inches thick. I was a little surprised by how thin it turned out to be, but it is well built and is feels very solid in your hands.
The only main con I have about this device is that it doesn't fit very well in one hand. I guess an 8" tablet is already on the edge of one-hand-devices, but I must say that this one is harder than most 8 inch tablets.
As with most non-flagship Samsung devices, don't expect frequent software updates. This one was very late getting 4.4, and may or may not ever get Android 5.
Trident makes a very good drop/shock proof case for this, sold for around $10 on amazon.
