About the Author
Mehak Daleh lives and works out of Chandigarh. She started working on ‘Roses’ on a cold December day in 2012, giving in to an image of little girls walking to a graveyard which had been stuck in her head for months. This image became the centre around which the manuscript grew.
Mehak relishes dark folklore and mythology along with contemporary fiction. Her stories, born where the everyday meets the extraordinary, are usually set in the hills where she grew up and where she developed a penchant for the mysterious and macabre.
And the Roses Bled is her debut novel and she is currently working on her subsequent manuscripts.

Then came the second wave. Of feeling everything the protagonist is feeling and investing myself in the story just the way the author invested in the characters. It is intense, and it comes from the heart. I am purposely not mentioning anything about the story so as to not give away much. You can read the brief on the back of the book anyway.
For a first-time author, Mehak Daleh makes very good use of the simple yet strong tool, writing, to weave a gripping read. She does the magic with small things like describing things and places as objects and feelings, we would otherwise not have thought much of.
If you are looking to read something that is captivating, spooky in parts with an end that leaves you with a lot of afterthoughts, but also reminds you that some authors still have the ability to use the language with ease and flair, look no further. This book is a delectable recipe for Halloween. I’d like to read more books by her and look forward to see her try her hand in other genres!
Two little girls - out in the park. Only now there is one little girl. The other one is gone. Or, is she really?
And the roses bled is a debut novel by Mehak Daleh. She has skilfully woven a tale incorporating mystery, horror, scenic mountains and a bit of personal philosophy.
This book is eminently readable and just the right size. I finished reading it in two sittings. The characters are well fleshed out. You can almost reach out and touch them. Some of the characters, you may not want to touch them though.
The story starts off with great urgency. This urgency soon develops into a dread. And, the pace does not let up. The storyline moves through the past and present which can be a bit of challenge to follow but is well-worth the effort. The ending is macabre and will haunt you. It will leave you with lingering doubts about people around you and the masks they wear to get through life.
On the delivery side, the books was delivered before time and well packaged.
To conclude, if you enjoy a good scary story which makes you jump (and chuckle nervously), get this book! You cannot go wrong in your choice of this short literary love affair.
The Roses Bled by Mehak is a thriller. Title is unique and creative while the cover is looking thriller and very catchy as well.
Plot is twofold means to say a parallel plot is running with another background which makes the overall story interesting and unique.
This is based on the disappearance of a six year old girl in a blink while playing in a garden with her twin sister. This is a wave of mystery , thrill and excitement.
It's a beautiful thriller. How can be thriller beautiful ? Yes because the narration of this story is very poetic and flowing. Nostalgic and spooky. Characters are very well crafted , relatable and interesting. Plot is engaging and relatable.
Writing style , use of horror elements , background such as description of different places , and character formation are the highlights. A balanced story with a mind blowing climax.
