Product description
In her first adventure, Lara Croft was forged into a true survivor, but she glimpsed a deeper, secret world. In the next chapter of her journey, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider. Rise of the Tomb Raider builds upon the formula that made Tomb Raider a success, and features the return of Camilla Luddington as Lara Croft. Luddington will take character performance to new heights as Lara pushes herself beyond human limits and is confronted with what it means to become a hero. Once again, Crystal Dynamics is proud to have the award-winning author Rhianna Pratchett as a key member of the writing team, helping craft a story that delves into Lara's inner turmoil and motivations in this critical second act of her journey.

Installation:
The package contains 2 DVDs (sadly no proper cover) which install about 15GB content. Around 2GB additional download required after that.
My Sys spec:
AMD A10-5800K 3.8 Ghz quad core
16GB DDR3 RAM
RADEON 7850 2GB DDR5
First impressions:
With my sys spec,I was able to crank up almost all available settings to the max. (only AA kept at 8x). Once I set the graphics to the max possible, the game runs smoothly and it's a blast to play. (There is some stutter during cut scenes, but this is a porting problem, not due to sys issue).
The gameplay as is the enhanced version of the 2013 TR, which is a good thing.
So go ahead and make your purchase, you won't disappointed.
Regards,
John
Taking place after the events of the previous Tomb Raider, Lara sets off on a quest to discover the truth about the myths around the world. This time, exploring Siberia for an ancient city that's supposed to hold the key to immortality. Also after the same thing is an organization who will stop at nothing to uncover the secret for themselves. It's a race to the finish with obstacles and adversaries in the form of ruthless henchmen, wild animals and treacherous terrain along the way.
Versatility and variety are key words to Rise of the Tomb Raider. Upgrading weapons and skills was a big part of the previous entry but it's been enhanced even more this time around. Finer tuning with weapons allows you to really hone in on how you use each weapon, giving priority to each feature depending on your play style. Weapon customization has increased in new forms like poison tipped arrows and explosives. Each encounter with enemies is presented with more freedom than ever to allow the player to engage in any style they choose. A full on stealth approach can be taken with as equal success as an aggressive one. Hiding in cover, behind objects, in brush, under water or in trees, stealth melee attacks rendering an enemy unconscious or kills from close or long distant range are all possible this time around. Using items like bottles to throw near and distract an enemy allows you choose how, when or if to even engage an enemy at all. The combination of melee combat and guns blazing firefights had some concerned that this would be more of a shoot-em-up than the previous game but that was just one way to approach that situation. The developers put concerned fans minds at ease by assuring us that there will be even more tombs to raid that are even bigger than last time with more puzzles to be solved and more treasures to uncover. The Brawler, Hunter and Survivor skills have many more levels of customization again this time as well. Again, it's all about tailoring Lara to your unique playing style. This also gives the game more replay value, allowing you to tackle the game from a different approach and having a different experience each time. This is what a true sequel should be. More of everything you love. That's what Rise of the Tomb Raider is. If you liked the last one, you'll love this.
I knew Rise of the Tomb Raider would give me an experience that would satisfy me on more levels than the others. Action, adventure, exploration, exotic locations, shooting, fighting, stealth, customization, story and puzzle solving. It's the total package of game play and an easy recommendation for fans of the series or newcomers looking for the total package.
The installation discs contain most of the data, 18.6GB, out of which you only have to download 1.4GB. Note that the size may have increased due to updates.
First off, with the performance. The game is weirdly a little hard to run on my Core i5-4690k, a GTX 760 and 8GB of RAM, the game runs well above 40FPS before you get to Siberia at Maxmimum Settings, after that it all goes downhill. FPS drop to around 20 and sometimes even lower, had to change the settings to a mixture of high and very high to get FPS above 30, although the TressFX 2.0 (PureHair) is way better performance and quality wise than TressFX 1.0 which is nice to see.
Graphics are great, the game is pretty as hell. Sometimes the jump between gameplay to cutscenes is jarring duew to the added fx in cutscenes and some transitions seem out of place which is not something I would say about the 2013 reboot. Probably due to the Director's lack of experience or maybe they just ran out of time to iron stuff out.
The Music of the game is sublime, the wardrums bring epicness and a mysterious tone to the game which sounds great, especially the music while raiding tombs. I would recommend turning the the Sound effects and Dialogue volume a little lower than the music volume to truly enjoy the music.
The Gameplay and Story: The Tombs in this game are way better than the ones in the 2013 game. They are bigger, harder and provide a better sense of accomplishment. The crafting and survival elements have gotten a major makeover, giving players multiple weapons of the same category, multiple bows, pistols etc. Mutiple outfits included in game, plant, animal and salvage gathering is required to craft various ammunition and inventory items such as flasks and ammo pouches. The usual weapon upgrade and player skill system is there to upgrade weapons and get more skills. The gameplay has been varied a little more by adding stealth sections to prevent the gameplay from getting repetitive, although the game is still a little heavy on killing which was a little disappointing. The story is good, providing some plot twists here and there, with top notch voice acting and acting work done via Camilla Luddington and others, much better than the last game.
Overall, the game is fun as hell, certainly one of the best games of the year 2015 (even if it launched on PC this year, it's still a 2015 game).
It might be a little hard for your PC to handle if you don't have the specs, so check before you buy.

As the second installment in the new survivor remake series, this is still a great game and I certainly enjoyed it, but... I have lots of small critiques.
First of, it doesn't have the impact of the first game. And I'm referring to the story and visuals. Not visuals in a technical sense but the wow factor. Like the whole initial scene in the first reboot.. jaw dropping and full of atmosphere. That's all gone. The warmth of the torch.. gone. Replaced by flares. Still better than the torchlight in the following Shadows of the Tomb Raider though.
They added all the new weapons and crafting stuff, which after you accept it isn't bad but it all distracts from the story and ruins the whole experience.
The tombs improved a bit, but the puzzles are still not as nice as in the older games (pre remake) and the tombs not being really part of the story is a huge missed opportunity IMHO.
The story is quite longer (I remembered non wanting to finish the first one.. that's how much I loved it) and there's finally some more replay value here, but it just doesn't have the same appeal.
So, in short.. the former TR remains my favourite, despite this one has some nice additions.
Long story:
I got the Xbox 360 as a present for my son last year. It came with two games: FIFA 15 and Tomb Raider; my son was spellbound by the first, but was too young to play the second.
And thus I entered into the foray of console games. My son and I played FIFA against each other for awhile, and I was amazed by the graphics, but the constant defeats led me make excuses whenever he wanted another game against me.
One night I decided to try Tomb Raider. Wow! Again, the graphics captivated me, and the storyline made me feel as if I was slowly being sucked into a movie. Here was a game that I actually felt that I was good at. I was defeating enemies, finding treasure, and making progress. I think it took four hours for me to get to a reasonable checkpoint.
That first night was the first of many, and the amount of detail and depth to the story kept me coming back for more.
After completing the game, and playing a few more times to get all available achievements, I was left with an empty gap in my evenings. Back to watching TV Series (House of Cards, and Sense8 were brilliant), reading books (I finally discovered the genius of John Connolly), and attempting to keep fit. XBox Live also kept me entertained, but I'm generally a naff gamer, and needed another storyline-based epic that didn't require ninja skills on the controller.
Anyway, my son got FIFA 16 when it came out, and I justified this purchase as a continuation of the Xbox buying saga. It's still not suitable for my son, and he still thrashes me in the park or on the console whenever we play football. But this is *my* chance to shine. I don't usually buy games for myself, with all the costs and responsibilities that parenthood brings - but maybe this game will cheer me up through the dreary winter that approaches.
This game is great, and as a Tomb Raider fan I was ecstatic at receiving this game to play. It is fantastic, but not quite worthy of the 5 stars in my opinion, just because of the huge amount of similarity to the previous game in terms of story and enemies. *Spoiler* I particularly found the bit with the undead army ridiculously identical (in appearance and gameplay fighting) to the undead samurai in Tomb Raider (Reboot).
I also miss the compulsory tomb-ness which was hinted at during the beginning sequence when discovering the tomb in Syria. However, the new features such as crafting with specific items, learning languages and healing mid-battle are brilliant. I do miss the puzzle solving in the reboot series so far and I miss Croft Manor, and I was disappointed at the lack of ICONIC dual pistols which were used at the end of the previous game, but the beauty of this game somewhat overshadows these personal flaws, as does the brilliant narrative. Camilla Luddington's voice is still a bit too American sounding for my liking, but I do prefer her 'younger' sound to my previous favourite Croft, Keeley Hawes. Others may disagree!
No matter what you think of the game, it is worth buying and it is worth playing and completing, and then replaying to fully appreciate the story and gameplay. Even with its flaws, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a beautiful and brilliant game, particularly on the Xbox One system (although I don't think you lose too much if you play on 360). Fingers crossed for a third!
Was Rise of the Tomb Raider worth 31.00 pounds? Most DEFINITELY!! Any True Tomb Raider fans will NOT want to miss out on this brilliant game!! There's challenging tombs, savage wolves, bears, and leopards to fight as well as the evil organisation called Trinity that Lara has to fight along with her new friends - Jacob, his daughter, Sofia, and their ppl. Rise of the Tomb Raider is worth every penny - the best tomb raider game ever!! It's the game of the year!!
