3.0 out of 5 stars Killer looks and premium feel, but proceed with caution

First off, this keyboard looks awesome. The lights are bright and even across the keycaps. This keyboard features a floating keycaps design which gives it a stunning look, and makes cleaning super easy as there is no recess area for dirt to collect. It also features a brushed aluminum backplate, which gives the keyboard a premium feel. It is semi reflective which makes the led light bounce off it for a more dramatic effect. It is a bit of a fingerprint Magnet though with the natural oils in your hands, so I keep a hand sanitizer beside it to ensure I wipe my hands off before I type on it.

The keyboard features in-house green switches, which are clicky and provides tactile feedback. I've used cherry mx blues before and based on my observation these are slightly heavy compared to them. Personally I prefer it because I do type pretty rigorously and the weight of the keys are perfect for me to avoid mistypes. The clicks are satisfying and sound pretty uniform across all the keys besides from the big ones like the space bar, backspace, and enter keys. The tactile feedback is crisp but smooth, unlike other mechs I've tried that are somewhat "grainy".

Now on to the reason for the 3 stars. I've actually ordered this keyboard twice now. I returned the first one because of a couple of defective key switches. The first one had the j and c switches registering the signal before the actuation point(before click and tactile feedback), then proceeds to register again once reaching the actuation point resulting to double typing "jj" "cc" in one complete press. The main reason why keyboards with cherry mx keys are expensive is because of the quality control that they implement, assuming that every key they produce is of optimum quality. With cheaper mechs like this one you might run into some issues like I did. But I decided to give it another go and voila the second one is flawless.

So if you are thinking of buying this one, you have to take into consideration that if you do get a faulty one it will take time to process the return shipping, refund, and reorder. Having said that, this is an awesome keyboard for the price, and judging by sheer looks and value, this is a steal. You just need proceed with caution once you receive this and inspect each key carefully. Use elite keyboard switch hitter app for easy diagnosis. [...]

Overall, amazing value mechanical keyboard with awesome looks and premium feel. But be sure to check it thoroughly once you get it.

Most people wouldn't think it possible to get a mechanical keyboard for under $50. Those people would, however, be wrong, as the Redragon USAS manages to feature double-shot keycaps, LED backlighting, and an all-aluminum frame for just $49 at time of review. The keyboard feels quite sturdy, while also not being too heavy (it's definitely a bit heavier than my old Microsoft Comfort Curve 3000, but that one's all-plastic), and the LED backlighting gives it a nice flair without being overly distracting (and can be turned off if one desires, though some have noted that it doesn't seem to remember settings). The included keycap puller is a nice touch, although it's just a basic plastic one (a wire puller would be much appreciated, as plastic pullers can scratch up your keycaps). While this doesn't come with genuine Cherry switches, the Outemu blues it does come with seem to be of pretty good quality, and at this price, aren't bad at all (better than the Kailh-built switches that come in Razer keyboards which cost twice as much). Installation is literally a plug-and-play setup for Windows, and presumably any other operating system as well. Overall, this is a pretty nice bang-for-buck option for those who can't afford the expensive stuff. If you want a mechanical keyboard, but also need it to be relatively cheap, don't be fooled by Redragon being relatively unknown, because this is a great budget choice.

EDIT: A year later, this keyboard still holds up fine. Some keys have developed shine, but that's just a consequence of using ABS plastic for the keycaps instead of PBT. The floating-key design does seem to invite dust/dirt more easily than the conventional design of my Rosewill RK-9000v2, but also makes it easier to take the keycaps off and clean up, so it's ultimately a wash. I do recommend cleaning this keyboard often, as debris can and sometimes will mess with the switches (I had a scare with some letters randomly triggering before finding that the keyboard needed cleaning again).
