This is the best mechanical keyboard available at the price right now.
First things first:
It is a compact keyboard without the number keys.
It is a mechanical keyboard, if a silent keyboard is very important to you, this is not for you.
Looks:
Quite good, on par with most gaming keyboards.
Has backlit keys that can be turned to 3 modes - on, off, and breathing mode where it flashes on and off slowly
Build quality:
Excellent! Sturdily built, very good quality for the price.
Keys are mounted on an metal (aluminium frame) and not directly on PCB, which is the best way to build a mechanical keyboard.
It also is claimed that it has a measure of splash resistance, however it is important to immediately disconnect the keyboard and not use it again till it has been thoroughly dried, as short circuits are how mechanical keyboards are damaged.
Keys:
These are not Cherry keys but made by a Chinese company called Outemu. The claim is that they are Cherry Green equivalent, however they feel like a cross between Cherry Blue and Green.
The reliability should be good, not as good as Cherry but more than enough for the normal lifecycle of a keyboard, and certainly way better than membrane keyboards.
The keys are not very noisy, but make the usual mechanical keyboard noise.
The actuation is precise, and feels good.
The layout and the positioning of the keys on the keyboard was a bit odd for me at first, coming from a different keyboard that was also a membrane keyboard, so I had a lot of false keystrokes initially, but after a few days got used to it.
Some other good points about the keyboard:
The keyboard does not come with or need special drivers, so unlike many gaming keyboards, this will work with any OS and with BIOS configuration mode etc.
Redragon also sells keys for their mechanical keyboards that can be purchased and used as replacements.
The keyboard also came with a small plastic key puller that is useful for removing keys for cleaning etc.
This is the best keyboard of it's type and style available at this price, and actually beats a lot of keyboards costing 2-3x of the cost. The TVS keyboard (which is full-size) and has original Cherry keys is good value at half of the cost of this keyboard, however it has much cheaper build quality and the keys are mounted directly on the PCB. The additional price of the Redragon keyboard is justified by the better value and higher quality.
