Redmi/Mi tv has numerous issues, let's talk about the cons first then the pros. Mi is a good brand in mobile phones and i personally use all Mi phones since years which are good, but this brand is not so as good in TV's, most Indians make this mistake using the brand loyalty of mobiles to buy tv of same brand, but that should not be done at all.
Cons:
1. Most features mentioned by Mi will actually Not work practically. Eg. Ambient light sensor doesn't work at all. Storage empty will keep showing the same even after you have transferred big movies, files and exhausted storage. If you download any file manager from Play Store it can show you real statistics and allow you to access but Mi own software can't do that.
2. While playing some HD or Dolby content on YouTube or Hotstar the picture settings will go the max even after you keep backlight+brightness+contrast to even zero. This happens same in both normal light and complete darkness. This happens in no brand tv as I have verified on TCL/OnePlus/toshiba/hisense/etc. Even the technician from Mi came and saw and couldn't solve it. It really strains your eyes to such extent that you can't watch tv at all.
3. Some connectivity issues. Eg. If you get connected once somehow but delete that pairing (or reset tv) and try to reconnect then it's on your luck but technically inefficient software.
4. Mi mentions no where on their website or specifications that what panel they are using. In the showroom display you will find IPS panel, but in all possible orders you will receive a VA panel. I tested it myself.
5. There are many bugs which one can with time or indepth usage.
6. Mi technicians are the worst you can find. They have absolutely no idea about the tv their basic features. Also they will give wrong guidance and feedback, no matter what you show them. Don't know if Mi brand only instructs then to do such way and company will try their level best to sell their defective products and not take them back. Amazon's installers are way more knowledgeable than that of Mi technicians.
7. This tv original model number and manufacture date will be many months or even years back but when you get the sealed box, the boxes and their model numbers will be different and latest. Don't know if Mi is selling refurbished models or not.
8. Mi quality check team is also not very efficient it seems from my experience.
9. Voice command is the worst, it can't give you desired results at ll.
Now the Pros:
1. The picture is much better clear detailed than some brands like TCL.
2. Sound of 30W is also good, but expect not much Bass from them.
3. It's VA panel hence gives darker black.
Summary:
If you are buying a tv, shortlisting brands who are in the tv industry for decades eg. Hisense, Samsung, Lg. would be more sensible. MOST Important, always buy from Amazon and not directly from the brand's because if anything wrong happens with the customer, Amazon will be a life saver. Amazon customer support, system, installers are all professionals, expert and helpful to guard you. In my research and i personally have shortlisted Hisense tv after physically seeing them. Almost at similar price ranges, Mi tv cannot even come closer to Hisense tv be it image quality or sound. For example if you actually see and hear Hisense Tornado then one can't take Mi ever. Now I can only buy a Hisense tv with their thousands of customer support offices opening in India.
