This is a delightful love story which marks all the ups and downs, misunderstandings and discoveries about another person which are part of first love and a burgeoning sexual relationship. (Carousel Magazine)
I felt like I was living this book (Zoella on Beautiful Broken Things)
I don't know where to start. I'd give this book TEN stars if I could. I loved Beautiful Broken Things but I think I love this book even more. A brilliant depiction of social anxiety, a swoony subtle love story that creeps up on you, and meticulously researched, respectful and just beautifully written. This book is not only for the quiet ones, but by JOVE how the quiet ones will adore this book. (Holly Bourne, author of Am I Normal Yet?)
Beautiful, honest and compelling. Also, one of the best depictions of anxiety I have ever read. (Catherine Doyle, author of Vendetta)
I swallowed this in one delicious sitting, and I've been thinking about Steffi and Rhys ever since. Honestly, it's been weeks and I'm not over them. They're so well drawn that they feel really real for me in a way that makes me want to check in with them for the rest of their lives. (Lauren James, author of The Next Together)
I literally cannot wait for everyone to read this and obsess over how good it is! (Maddie (Heart Full Of Books))

I think if that much intrigues you, you should definitely pick up this book.
The protagonist Steffi has severe social anxiety and suffers occasional panic attacks. Most of the book follows her struggles as she steps out of her comfort zone and tries to communicate with strangers (something which is very hard for her). Steffi wants to attend college after she graduates school but her parents think that it would be to much for her and try to dissuade her from doing so. She loves her job at an animal rescue shelter and hopes to be a trainer or a veterinarian someday.Through all of this, Steffi and Rhys start liking each other and it works for her as she doesn't need to speak out loud to him and it works for him cause she knows a little of Sign Language.
I do want to point out that this book is more on about their romance rather than them dealing with their disabilities, so I would suggest reading this only if you're into romance. Even though the disability thing is tackled well, romance is still a bigger theme.
In conclusion, the book was worth reading. The writing got better as I read on.
It follows the life of Steffi, who is a select mute and is in her junior year of high school, which also is a deciding factor on whether or not she will be able to go to college depending on how she interacts with people this year. She is introduced to the charming Rhys Gold who by birth is deaf. Although the idea of a deaf boy and a mute girl seems slightly odd the story is told in such a way thatakes the voices of both characters" loud" and clear. Steffi describes her relationship with Rhys as a quiet kind of thunder which fits perfectly for their kind of relationship ( trust me, you will understand once you read the book)
Overall the book is a beautiful novel that takes the author's name to the next level. Although I did enjoy the author's previous book, Beautiful Broken Things, I enjoyed this one even more.
