The safer materials, SOLID construction, ample size, and a tire pump that stays in the garage now, are reasons enough to fully endorse this tub. I wish I'd found it sooner, and saved money in the long run.
The only thing I would change, is the piece that holds the tub in the folded position is sticking out to the side when giving him a bath and he is constantly trying to play with it. So, I just added velcro as I read on another review and it worked great!!! It might be a little slippery at times, so I might add a little grip on just a few areas for his little bottem. Those things are the reason I knocked a star off, but I would definitely buy this again!!
Now for the cons; one would probably be the latch on one of its side. It could scratch your baby if her/his legs get caught on it but just exercise caution and you should be fine. The bottom of the tub is also quite slippery but stick a mat on it and you're good to go. The tub was also too deep for my baby when she was a newborn and although it was a little tricky managing a newborn without the infant insert, it was definitely doable.
A good product overall and I'm happy with it. Being foldable certainly made it unbeatable in my eyes :)
--- Portable: Perfect for small spaces and/or attempting to keep a bathroom "adult-looking." This tub folds up very easily & we store it outside our bathroom to maximize it's space. Looking forward to using it for travel as well!
--- Environmentally-friendly: I wasn't looking forward to filling my bath-tub with water every time to give my baby a bath nor did the kitchen sink located on the 1st floor of our condo seem like a feasible bathing area. I have no problems "filling" up this tub while providing my baby with "play" space to splash his arms and legs around
--- Drain Plug: Seems like an unimportant detail but to be able to drain the water without having to lift a heavy, water-filled tub is very user-friendly. If one is using this tub on a counter, you could probably just push the side of the tub where the drain is and unplug, draining the water out into a sink. Again, making it super, user-friendly. I use this tub in our bath tub and pull the drain before I take my baby out, thus the water drains while I finish our night routine. I turn it upside down overnight to dry. Whoever showers first in the morning stores it away.
--- When used with the Prince Lionheart Infant Insert: Amazing! I initially thought I made a mistake by buying the infant insert: it wiggled around when my baby did & once it fell off! Then my husband set-up the bath one night while I undressed my baby, he "snapped" down the insert into the tub's edge . . . what a difference! I can watch my baby hands-free wiggle around as if he is doing the back stroke without worrying he or the insert will fall. Baby sits in the insert, I am able to hold him forward with one hand & wash him with a wash cloth with the other hand to clean his back. Again, after "cleaning time" we do "play time" wherein he kicks his legs and waves his arms in the partially-filled tub while sitting securely at an angle so water isn't in his ears or head/face.
I appreciate the simple design and plan to use a foam insert to cushion his bottom when he is able to sit up on his own. Both my husband & I enjoy using this product & highly recommend it (esp with the infant insert) for everyone!
