Pre-Marital MOT: A Relationship Inspection Paperback – Import, May 2006
About the Author
Susan Jane Smith B.Sc. was a Psychotherapist for over twenty years in both the USA and the UK. She was also a Divorce Mediator for five years with the Family Mediators Association and a Professional Practice Consultant with the UK College of Family Mediation. Susan brings her extensive knowledge of working with individuals and couples to this book. "Pre-Marital MOT: A Relationship Inspection" is designed to facilitate couples talking before living together, conceiving children together or getting married because Susan would like people to build strong foundations for the relationship. It is all too easy to "fall for someone" without checking that you each have the required skills and knowledge to make the relationship function over a prolonged period of time.

It's really more like a common-sense checklist of things to make sure you're not forgetting anything that would impact a marriage, and is pretty surface level -- with advice like dump your SO if they don't like dogs and you have one, since they'll resent your pet anyway. I mean, if I were on the 3rd date that might be good advice to think about, but once you are a year or two into a relationship I think you know whether you're dumping your SO over a pet or not.
Also, it took me about 10 minutes to read, so again keep it in mind. If you are looking for some real relationship 101 for early on, I'm sure this is helpful in some measure, but if you're looking for deeper insight on preparing an already strong relationship for the step of marriage, you should try elsewhere.
