About the Author
Rajeev Saxena did his Bachelor of Technology from IIT Kanpur in 1994. He currently lives in Dallas, USA. His career in information technology with a large international company has provided him with opportunities to visit a multitude of cultures and countries.
Saxena's early days were spent in a small town in the Aligarh District of Uttar Pradesh, after which he moved between several villages, big towns, and districts in India, all of which he called home. His travels reinforced his growing belief that many people everywhere struggle daily to meet basic needs that others take for granted.
He eventually found his way to the metropolises in India, and then around the world with several IT companies. Places such as Barbados in in the Caribbean, Johannesburg in South Africa, Mexico City in Mexico and Nassau in Bahamas reminded him the most of the country he grew up in.
From the days of living on farms in his grandparents' village, he has been in touch with his roots throughout his life. Charity and voluntary work is also his passion. He loves providing free entertainment to his kids by singing old Hindi songs on karaoke. His wife loves that too, not because she particularly likes his voice, but because it makes their children laugh.

This is the story of Rajat who is commonly named as Pinto. He is a scientist and a social worker who might be a politician too. He hails from middle class background that was home tutored in his earlier years. However, he later studies in IIT and becomes a scientist working in MIT. Unromantic Pinto meets Lavanya who moves on to become his life partner. Pinto with his new mechanism wants to do something for the society which begins his road towards joining politics. During all this when Pinto is about to reach the peak of success, Lavanya leaves him suddenly without telling him anything. That brings in the curiosity to read further. This story has many aspects like love story of a scientist, curiosity and determination of a middle class boy, social worker turning into a politician and a lot of ideas.
I loved that the book had some of the elements discussing about my city which made me feel connected. Afterall if you are reading a fiction story that is happening in your city, you will surely smile. The title is brilliant and apt for the story. This scientist Pinto has too many ideas. Narration was good however I felt bored at times when there were too many descriptions about the machines. The cover was good but I did not like its colour combinations. It seemed dull due to the colour. The narration was good.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading irrespective of the genre because it has elements of various genres.

Book Name- Pinto Has An Idea
Author– Rajeev Saxena
Publisher– Bloomsbury India
Pages– 272 pages
Price– ₹ 245 ( paperback copy )
Young Pinto has from his childhood been an out-of-the box thinker, finding solutions in his everyday surroundings to a myriad ancient global problems. A certain machine he invents in his childhood makes him a hero in his village but it's not sufficient to change the mindset of naysayers for Pinto to pursue his career in hardcore science.
Pinto Has an Idea is the tale of Dr Pinto, a small-town boy, an IITian and a scientist working in MIT, who suddenly experiences a life-changing revelation in the early days of his research, throwing away his work on theoretical physics and setting out to solve the practical everyday problems of the world he lives in.
Returning to his native India, he finds his noble quest beset by unexpected adversaries, obstacles and trials, but emerges triumphant from each battle.
Pinto does not like to appear a romantic person, and keeps women at bay. But when Lavanya returns to haunt his life, and eventually shoe-horns him into marriage, he obligingly falls in love. Because Lavanya is not just a pretty face, she's his partner in research. And Pinto, a newbie in romance, discovers a whole new craze.
But life takes directions never aimed for. Pinto is on the road to becoming rich and famous. He invents a mechanism to eradicate corruption in the land, and in that process moves towards politics. That impinges on the couple's relationship so severely that Lavanya disappears suddenly without telling Pinto. Why does she leave their child with Pinto? Will he lose his greatest 'idea', Lavanya, and thereby, himself? Sure, Pinto's ideas bring dramatic changes to society. But how much romance can a scientist handle as well?
Rajeev Saxena, in his debut novel, shows you just how much.
"Pinto Has An Idea" is an contemporary fiction debut novel of Rajeev Saxena. It is an story form childhood to adulthood, from brilliant student to successful scientist named Rajat Srivastava whom everyone calls as Pinto a small town boy in Uttar Pradesh. despite studying in small towns like Orai he has keen knowledge of science which makes Rajat aka pinto stands apart right from his childhood. His invention a machine to remove the corn off the cob in his childhood makes him a hero in his village.
He is a part of a middle class family and was initially home tutored.. However, he later studies in IIT and becomes a scientist working in MIT and United States. After getting so much success Pinto humbly returns to India to start working for the betterment of the Indian society, through his innovations.
Unromantic and sincere Pinto meets Lavanya who becomes his life partner. Pinto with his new mechanism wants to do something for the society which leads him to join politics.During all this when Pinto is about to taste the sweetness of success, due to the changes in his attitude and behavior, their marriage life begins to fade away. And finally Lavanya leaves him suddenly without telling him anything. After that story brings in the curiosity to read further. I don't want to reveal story any more. What will be the destiny of their? what happened next in story ? Grab your copy and find the answers .
Language and Narration-
The perfect narration style keep the readers hooked up till the end. The language is lucid, simple, easy to comprehend and perfectly written what should be in a perfect novel. well narration is simple and is given in third person narrative.
Though there are few grammatical errors but except that, book is great read.I couldn't have ask for a better story by debutant author.
Book Cover and Title-
The title “ Pinto Has An Idea ” looks interesting, also it completely justifies with the story. On the other hand the cover of the book seems to be Sci-fi but this is purely modern age contemporary fiction book.cover looks nice though it could have been better.
Stories and plots:4.5/5

“Education is good but also make you coward”
One and all, I would say “ Pinto Has An Idea ” is all about realizing self-worth and fighting the odds to prove who you are. It is a roller coaster ride of science, romance, thrill, emotions and politics..
Thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. I would personally recommend this book to all the book lovers, especially those who are from technology, logical field.

I can relate to the fact that author’s engineering background is reflected throughout the book. The main characteristic which makes the book very unique is the way author has chosen the subject. I thoroughly enjoyed neatly woven ideas with romance and the style of storytelling.
Rajat aka Pinto, the protagonist wants to change the world through his ideas. Most of the ideas are in the context of India but they are equally applicable to other parts of the world as well. In fact I was thrilled with Pinto’s plan to remove VIPs and corruption from Indian system. The thrill and excitement behind what Pinto is planning to do next, will not let you leave the book from start to finish. There are several humorous and funny scenes especially during Pinto’s college days and then the time he spends with his girlfriend Lavanya.
The only problem I found with the novel is that a few of the characters have been introduced very briefly and then they disappear. Probably the author wants to cover a lot of material in one book. It doesn’t create any unpleasant reading experience but definitely something I’d like author to keep in mind for his next book.
Overall the novel was an excellent read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope it’s a sequel. Will wait for the next one.
Pinto the protagonist has really a great life, an intelligent man would like to lead. He is not able to handle romance even if he wants to. Layanya, another main character comes into his life as his girl friend and after having the love and hate relationship, they eventually marry. The humor around their relationship and during Pinto’s college days is awesome.
But the real beauty of the book lies in the main concept of the book. Pinto keeps thinking about new problems, solutions and innovative ideas. As Pinto is going to do something different in every chapter, that curiosity keeps the interest alive all the time.
Frankly speaking I haven’t seen a book lately which has humor, ideas, positive message and full entertainment.
It helps readers understand Indian culture, how people struggle…our kids in America can’t even think about those circumstances and even against all odds they win.
I highly recommend reading the book…(more than) worth spending your time and money.
This book has various flavors of life and it remains an interesting read from start to finish! I highly recommend this book!
