Laser Guide for Precise Results
The Beardtrimmer 9100 has a pop-up laser guide that projects a line directly on your face so you can properly align the trimmer before it touches any hair. This helps you create perfectly straight and symmetrical lines every time. And because the laser is Class 1, the light it emits is completely safe for the eyes.
High-Performance Chromium Steel Blades
For neat, efficient cutting, the beard trimmer has self-sharpening blades made of finely ground chromium steel that require no oiling or maintenance. The blades' rounded tips and combs prevent skin irritation for more comfortable trimming.
Use Corded or Cordless with 17 Length Settings That Lock in Place
To get the results you want, this trimmer features a zoom wheel that automatically locks in one of 17 lengths between 1/64 to 9/32 inches (0.4 millimeters to 7 millimeters) with as little as 0.2 millimeters between length settings. Once you've chosen a length, the LED display clearly shows it for easy reference. The trimmer has a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery that provides a full hour of power after one hour of charging. It can also be plugged in for corded use. To clean the trimmer, simply rinse it under the faucet. The trimmer includes a pouch for storage and portability.

Philips has a 45-day risk free guarantee. It requires you use the trimmer for 3-weeks, then you have to call to have them process the guarantee and the package that you send the trimmer back in must be post marked by the 45th day after the date of your purchase receipt.
I called Philips immediately after 3 weeks. They said they would process the return/guarantee in 3-5 days and I would get an email. I watched my email, including junk/spam, and never heard back. I called after the 10th day and they told me "its being processed and will take 3 more days." This went on and on until the 43rd day of my 45-day guarantee and they promised "it will be processed in 3-days." I told them that would be too late, it would be the 46th day and I could no longer return the trimmer then. Finally, the customer service representative promised to have the return processed and that I would get an email within 10 minutes. I never got that email.
I asked to speak to a manager. They evaded my request.
I asked why they always put me on hold so long. They said they were assisting other customers!!!!
I confronted them that calling themselves 'customer service' was a flimsy pretense to avoid taking care of customers and giving them the return they were promised. I asked the rep if they were, and if so, how they could be, satisfied holding such a terrible job where they just lie to and frustrate customers. The rep replied that they were sorry that can't be helpful.
My time is valuable, but I also have values about how I should be treated, which is why I persisted. I told the customer service rep that whatever they were getting paid, Philips lost more money paying them to avoid paying a return to me. However, after the 45 days past, I gave up and reported Philips to the Better Business Bureau.
55 days after I originally purchased the trimmer (10 days after the guarantee ended), I got an automated email from Philips asking me to complete a survey and product review. I cut & pasted the above review. An hour later, Philips finally emailed me a return slip for the 45-Day Guarantee. The next day, they emailed me saying they were removing my product review!!! I had to report them to the BBB and write a negative review on their site to get them to honor their guarantee, then they censor the reviews of their products - completely unethical.
It is fancy and the battery does seem to last nicely so far ... but the beard guard was made poorly and fills with hair almost immediately. If you use the guard without the full enclosure you will likely gouge a big hunk of your hair out... I have done this twice. I know I shouldn't use the thing but I don't like opening the guard every stroke to clean it out so I used the open one and it is not good for beards, or anything else you cannot be perfectly flat against at all moments.
I have been trimming beards since I was a lad, about 30 years now, and I haven't found a lousier guard on any product. I have owned much worse made products overall but really? After the investment in the rest of the unit why not top it off with a decent guard that can make the actual trimmer work well for its intended purpose.
1) I completely charged it out of the box and then after use kept using it until the battery was out--as you're supposed to do per the instructions and any lithium ion battery in general. Following my next attempt to recharge the trimmer for cordless use, the battery was zapped instantly once removed from the charger and attempting to use it. Aggravating as it was, I simply started using it while plugged in to avoid the instant battery death when unplugged;
2) If you have any thickness to your beard, it's going to take a looooong time with this trimmer to get a consistent trim. Either the blades just aren't that great or the motor doesn't run fast enough, either way it's a lengthy process--particularly compared to the Wahl trimmer I had previously that this replaced; and
3) Despite having to plug it in to use and it taking eons to trim, yesterday it decided that it just wasn't going to trim if I wanted to go on a down slope (think from cheek to chin). It would just cut out and die. Plugged in? Check. Blades clean and clear from any obstruction or hair? Check. Does it work? Nope.
I owned this trimmer for barely a month and yesterday was it's swansong. Save your money and find something more reliable. The laser guidance obviously never factored in since the battery could barely operate the blades much less the gimmick I talked myself into buying.
Don't waste your money. Get something else.
