About the Author
Living between Manhattan and Kashi, Dr Bhaswati Bhattacharya is
a licensed, board-certified physician, integrating 'Good Medicine'
with Ayurveda for the past fifteen years. She is clinical assistant
professor of Family Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and
a PhD researcher in Ayurveda at Banaras Hindu University. She is a
2014 senior Fullbright-Nehru scholar, recipient of American Medical
Association's Leadership Award and the first Indian to speak at
Commencement Exercises at Harvard University. Her work is featured
in the documentary Healers: Journey into Ayurveda, on the Discovery

About the authors

Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya practices and teaches holistic family medicine emphasizing Ayurveda, dividing her time between Manhattan and Benaras. In Manhattan, she serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and runs The DINacharya Institute. She is also completing a PhD in herbometallics and Ayurvedic pharmaceutics from Banaras Hindu University in the ancient city of Varanasi.
She is a Harvard-trained physician-educator, working over 20 years to bridge Ayurveda with mainstream medicine. Her trainings in public health, preventive medicine, nutrition and pharmaceutics have interfaced with her clinical practice, helping patients through difficult diseases using medicines from around the world. She has also trained in holistic health counseling, yoga, homeopathy and nutrition. She was awarded as a 2013 senior Fulbright Scholar. A documentary film on her work, Healers: Journey into Ayurveda is shown on The Discovery Channel. Her first book Everyday Ayurveda was published in 2015 by Penguin Random House.

It seems the author had a really interesting childhood! Must have been difficult to have certain rituals at home to find the outside world does something completely different.
