From the Inside Flap
Chopra on a wondrous journey. . . "The Path to Love." Philosophical, inspiring, and ultimately very practical, The Path to Love is a book that can change lives as it invites the spirit to work its wonders on the most complex and richly rewarding terrain of all: the human heart.
From the Back Cover
Drawing on the Vedic texts of India and other great wisdom traditions, Dr. Chopra describes the seven stages of love, beginning and culminating in ecstasy. At each stage we hear stories like those of Clare, who only falls in love with unattainable men; of Frank and Della, whose eight-year-old marriage has become a battleground of distrust; and of Gail and Jarrett, who near retirement without understanding how they will fit together into their new lives. As we see these couples overcome their obstacles, and as we work through a series of specific exercises, we anchor these lessons in our own experience.See all Product description

I usually write down beautiful lines from books into my notebook.
But there were few chapters like "Letting Go" and "A house of Light" that were so insightful and beautiful that I xeroxed those two chapters completely.
An amazing read.
Practical and insightful to people who are looking for love and for those who can read and retrospect about the stuffs mentioned in the book.
Here is stanza from the book that I believe many could relate to,
"The energies that make us act out of anger, fear, insecurity and doubt are extremely familiar. They are like an old, dark house we return to whenever things get too hard to handle. It feels risky to leave this house and see what's outside, yet we have to leave if we expect to be loved.
So we take the risk.We walk out into the light and offer ourselves to the beloved. This feels wonderful;it's like nothing we have imagined in our old, dark house. But when things get tough,we run back inside,we choose familiarity to fear and lovelessness over the vulnerability of love, until finally we feel safe enough to go back and try love again.
This is essentially the rhythm of every intimate relationship-risk and retreat. Over and over we repeat this rhythm, accepting love and pushing it away until finally something miraculous happens. The old, dark house isn't necessary anymore. We look around, and we have a new house, a house of light. Where did it come from? How did we build it? It was built from the love of the heart. It has silently been weaving our higher and lower natures, blending fear, anger, survival and protection into the energies of devotion, trust, compassion and acceptance."

I have something called PTSD that also contributed to my cold heartedness. If you are looking for something to help HEAL the heart and become open to love once again, this book is for you.
I also got this book because I needed a break from reference books, something I'm prone to buying. This book actually tells stories on love and encourages the welcoming of love. Not only that, but it also opens the mind and reminds you of what love truly is. Something I believe I had forgotten over time or possibly dismissed as setting myself up into vulnerability in order to get hurt. Not so.
I highly recommend this book to everyone, particularly those who have lacked the ability to acknowledge their higher self and the ability to love.
If you want to learn how to fall in love with yourself (not in an ego way) then read this gem. It is the one experience everyone should have.
However, I cannot recommend the service provided by Amazon and its vendor when I placed a second order for the book. After my order was placed (and charged to my credit card), I was notified that it would not ship for about two weeks. Then, I was told that I could not change my order. Indeed, I did change it by writing to the vendor and asking to have it canceled. Turns out, she (vendor) was able to ship the book sooner, and, in fact, was on her way to ship it when she discovered my email message. But, her tone with me in her email response was so offensive, that I asked her to cancel my order, remove the charge from my card;and recommended that she have a discussion with Amazon.
Clearly the two vendors were giving out conflicting information. I think, however, that what will remain with me is her tone in her message. I was so offended that I will not order from this vendor
again and I extend my offense to Amazon as well. No customer should have to endure this amount of grief with a vendor for reasons beyond his/her control. Amazon and Ginger: Get it together here. There are other booksellers on the internet and the competition is pretty fierce.
At times, I found his writing to be quite cerebral, littered with theory. I found myself having to read certain chapters over again to feel like I was getting the true sense of what he was trying to get across. It's certainly not a sit back and read at the beach type of read for me... but rather a text that I felt compelled to delve into and study.
