Just played the game after the hype faded.
A big shoutout to Sucker punch for this beautiful game. Must play.
What I liked:
1. Cut scenes.
2. Good story
3. Easy and fluid Combat.Very satisfying
4. Beautiful Locations
5. Great Costume design
6. Characters
7. Oh the way they used wind for guidance!
8. Stand off fights and parrying. The level of satisfaction when your timing is right.
9. Graphics
10. Sound and music
11. TBH Khotun Khan to an extent was generous with Jin and Lord Shimura
12. Immersive gameplay
13. Good to have weapon, character, and costume Customisations and also how you could switch between costumes at any time.
what I didn’t like :
1. Travelling becomes boring after a while, though the locations are stunning.
Especially if you want to upgrade fully first. You gotta go through repetition of tasks and enemies and can't fast travel unless you explore them first. Maybe i felt that way because it was horse riding.
2. Enemies are sometimes kinda dumb. Try it for yourself in all difficulty modes. It’s funny how in few scenarios you don’t get spotted at all .
They don’t notice me when I’m just above them standing on huts or any elevated surface.
Stealth could have been better, I get it that the enemies can’t see me when I’m just right above them few feet away in their field of view and I’m complaining about stealth but what I mean is being little more realistic. It was really funny when they were facing me and I was actually clearly visible when I was standing on a hut. But they can’t see me because I’m J(i)hn Cena.
3. Assisted aim is sometimes annoying when you want to kill a specific enemy like archers first and there’s some dude right beside him or slightly closer to you.
Locks on to the other guy instead.
4. Enemy Ai could’ve been improved because there were times when I killed someone in their field of view close by and they didn’t care .
5. There are only 5 types of enemies since the beginning
It would’ve been better if they introduced them one by one through progression of story. (Correct me if I’m wrong because I upgraded first before diving completely into main missions, may be that is why I faced them early or maybe not.)
6. Cutscenes every time I rescue a villager. OMG!
7. I wish rage mode was as quick and cool like it is in Legends mode. It felt a tad bit slow but balanced it with one shot kill. But not enough as you can't kill many, just a handful only if they are close.
8. Few glitches here and there kinda bothered me when Jin’s shoulder armour plates and his bow were getting merged or sometimes going through his helmet and costume.
Just nitpicking here. But just saying.
These were just my observations. All these small things aside the game is really good, people who haven't played, be it good or mixed reviews, just get it and play .
Icing on the cake, co-op is actually cool.

Holy moly !! What an amazing game !! The first game for which I even cared about the platinum trophy. From the prologue, which also serves as a tutorial of sorts for the combat and also shows how weak the protagonist initially is, till the end, it's an emotional roller coaster. Extremely well fleshed out characters and amazing dialogue combined with side tales and an amazingly beautiful world just yells to keep playing and keep exploring everything the game has to offer.
The combat is hard on hard and even though one completes the game there is still so much to master in the combat that it needs another play through. The story, well its an experience to say the least. It grips you emotionally and forces you to attach to the characters and care for their fate. One can really feel the bonding between the protagonist and the NPCs to the point that it made me extremely sad to see some of them take their last breath. There are no hidden elements in the story. Its left upto the player to decide if some of the decisions made by the protagonist are right or wrong and the choice at the ending left me thinking for a really long time to the point that I had to recollect everything from the story and debate with myself on what should be the right decision.
The world is beautiful. From hills overlooking the sea to marshes to the harsh cold regions of the northernmost island, I just had to stop myself from playing time and again to just enjoy the breathtaking visuals. Some of the temples and monasteries are beautifully crafted. Overall visuals and face animations on the PS4 pro are pretty good but nothing ground breaking. I would say that HZD, even though it came out almost 4 years earlier had better face animation and visuals.
Gameplay wise, there are plenty of side missions (or tales) and a large number of camps to clear which also helps in opening the map up around the camps to indicate any points of interest. There is not a lot of variety in the tales apart from some interesting side stories. The mythic tales however are pretty different and end up with some difficult duels but the end result are some cool moves and some cool gear as well. There aren't a lot of variety of enemies (a total of 4 types) too, but the variety lies in how you take them down. Sometimes you would have to clear out a sprawling fort and there are multiple ways to do it, eg: completely stealth or a mix of stealth and combat or outright combat. There are certain missions where all-out stealth is mandatory since on detection, hostages would be killed resulting in failure of the mission. Variety in gameplay comes as a result of how you can complete a mission rather than the different kinds of missions and enemies you encounter. What's interesting here is that the combat is so diverse that experimenting with different styles of fighting keeps you engaged in the game no matter what you are doing at the moment.
This game is a must buy and a fitting final exclusive for the PS4.

Very beautiful game! The player can fight in 4 different styles like Yakuza series but the action is far better! Stealth is also good, story is a bit depressing but overall a very good game! Must buy!

This game has to be one of the best ones on the market. The open world is vast, yet doesn't get boring to explore. You can spend hours roaming around and clearing up side quests without getting exhausted. Story is heartfelt and well written, with a compelling protagonist
