UPDATE! I had to leave the unit with service center from 29th Oct 2018 and finally received it on 2nd Oct, 2018. At the time I was told that the inner tank was replaced. It had not been even 2 days and the tank started leaking on 4th Oct, 2018. How did a new tank start leaking if they had indeed replaced it? I have placed a new complaint with Orient and waiting for them to pick the unit again to fix.
DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK FROM ORIENT; YOU'LL END UP HAVING IT LYING IN THEIR SERVICE CENTER IN WINTER WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO SERVE YOU. UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED WITH ORIENT. NOT GOING TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN!
Being in Chennai, the usage of this water heater was not something to be termed "heavy", but still the tank got leaked in just a year of starting using it. As you can see in the photograph (taken when the technician was investigating) you can see water leaking from the underbody. They had to take the entire unit to their service center for 4 days and have returned it today saying they have fixed the leakages using welding. I'm not sure for how long this "fix" is going to last and when I am going to start having the problem again.
As per the Orient service center, they have seen this tank leakage issue in this specific model of Orient water heater and in all the cases, the units were purchased from Amazon.
I booked Orient Electric Water Heater (White) of Rs.4869/- on 27-01-19 After six months lodge a complaint of water leaking and attended after one week. The contractual technicians are non Engineer or unskilled labour. They do not about the actual cause but replace the things. Hoever, find out the real cause and came second time with local heating element to replace the original element of Orient as leakage from here as identified. They do not know meaning of washers & nuts while opening threw away the washers as of no use. Duplicate "thesta" company heating element of 1.5 KW where 2 KW is required. It is not being fitted easily and technician tried to mold the grip rod with plyers and I saw it and told him to go away. Lets who is coming next. ..... Service standard of Orient products are going down by down every year........... No Engineer, top mangement are willing to hear or supervise the system....... SKILL INDIA, STAND UP INDIA.... Jai Hind
Bought from AMAZON on 8.9.2018. Started tripping after 4 months. Service Engineer replaced Thermostat last week. Profuse water leakage from inside. Very poor service, responded after 10 days, service Engineer refused to attend the problem saying this is not designed for multistory building, problem remain unattended, not able to use it at all. As per product details for the model WS1502M 15 LITRES-2000 WATTS Storage water heater available at AMAZON, this product can withstand pressure upto 6.5 bar. In my case, the differential Head of water is maximum 3.5 bar. Now, if the service Engineer's version is true, then ORIENT is cheating with customers through the AMAZON platform OR else it is the responsibility of ORIENT to prove the design pressure of 6.5 bar. Warranty: 5 years on tank, 2 years on heating element & 2 years on product??? AMAZON should stop selling these type of UNRELIABLE POOR QUALITY product and help customers from being cheated.
PLEASE DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT.... I bought this in the month of December 2017. There was a leakage in the tank in Feb 2017 because of with short circuit was happening. After repeated complaints to the customer service and service centre in my area no one has visited to repair the geyser. It has been more than 3 weeks that I have registered a complaint. Very very bad service and the product is worst. At the same time I bought a bajaj geyser which is working fine.
