Guys, I shall focus on the most relevant points from a laymen' s point of view.
I have been using this phone ( Midnight black 8GB RAM, 128 GB ) for about 3 months now. After a long wait I could finally get my hands on this beast 😊. The delivery took it's time, that's 6 days to be precise.

Every body has agreed, the built quality and design are top notch. It has a full anodized aluminium curved unibody and slimmest one from OnePlus stable so far and durable too. Some may say that it looks awfully similar to another device but trust me I have used both of them and when you hold the 2 together,they don't feel anything like each other and the OP5 is easier to hold. it sure looks one among the expensive flagships. Not in the same league as S8 but still impressive.
This has become my daily driver and man I am impressed with the phone !! I was a little worried; like it did not have OIS and water proof rating and a little bit small battery but to my delight it did very well even without these features.

>> The performance is steller and as of now it is the most powerful device in the market at this price point. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor - This the genius brain that gives the phone it's amazing stellar performance and this is the driving force S8 and Xperia XZ premium share .
>> The ram and battery management is excellent and one of the best if not the best. Even after long periods of time the apps are open in the background and the standby time is also great.
>> The ceramic finger print scanner is one of the fastest and accurate out there.
>> It has UFS2.1 storage which is fastest available at the time. It allows faster downloading speeds and also boosts game-loading times.
>> CAMERA -
The dual cameras had a lot of controversy going on but after a few updates the performance is up there . After a few software updates the EIS is pretty good. The dual cameras are great and take very good and detailed shots. The rear facing are up there comparable to the top guns and hold their own. The front facing camera is one of the best out there if not the best.
In dim lit surroundings the telephoto lens struggles but the primary lens performance is good due to the 1.7 aperture.
But the good thing is that the dual camera work together to better detect depth to give you the trendy " bokeh effect " : if you are wondering what it is - it is the blurred backgrounds that can set apart your pics from the crowd both literally and figuratively. They can zoom up 2X optically.
The main camera is 16MP snapper with f/1.7 aperture, while the secondary camera is 20MP sensor with an f/2.6 aperture.
There's a 16MP camera on the front.
Video shooting at up to 4K @30fps, and a string of pro options / DSLR features such as ISO, white balance, shutter-speed, focus and exposure modification, as well as an on-screen histogram and RAW image file support for complete control of post-shot editing in its camera app makes it a good snapper overall.
>> The software experience is very good and smooth. it's basically stock Android with no bloatware but with a few handy additions .
>> The call quality is very good. It has 2 micro phones and it has good network reception.
>> One of the few devices to have Bluetooth 5.0. The latest and best.
>> The loud speaker is pretty loud and clear and does not distort sound (this is in terms of mono speaker).
>> It has almost all the sensors.
>> Dash charge
Don't even get me started on the dash charge. I feel that it is the best feature on the device, the ability to charge your phone in such a small amount of time is massive. Now I don't have to worry about charging my phone all the time and even if I forget to charge at night no prob just plug in the device and in just 60 mins I have about 90 percentage of battery. Even while I play my games !!
>> It is not water proof but it handled rain and splashing of water . In an online video I saw that it survived the drop in bucket of water when retrieved within 1 minute.
>> it has headphone jack unlike the other biggie, which produces excellent listening experience from your headphones and can even bring out the potential of the high end headphones.
>> I have experienced no lag or major heating issue while playing high end games like mc 5 and asphalt 8
>> Battery
The battery 3300 mAh is smaller compared to 3T 's 3410 mAh but the 835 dragon is not as power hungry and makes the most of the juice available and help you tide through the day.
>> Reading Mode utilizes an ambient sensor and gray-scale mapping to make reading as comfortable as reading an actual book.
>> Gaming Do Not Disturb Mode allows users to play their favorite games without being disrupted by notifications or accidental hardware button presses
>> The OnePlus 5 also includes a one-year manufacturer warranty for device and six-month manufacturer warranty for in-box accessories including batteries from the date of purchase.
>> It came with a price hike but still a good 16600 less than the Samsung Galaxy S8 and 38000 less than an iPhone 7 plus (128 gb) or 18000 less than Google Pixel XL after discount on Amazon.
>> The display is a good 1080 p AMOLED panel and has deep blacks and very good colour reproduction it also has dci-p3 colour gamet which gives you accurate colour while watching movies it's not 2k but you won't notice that much of a difference if you're using it on a daily basis.
Amazing user experience like the heavy hitters and little things like the alert slider ; once you use it, u will wonder why doesn't every manufacturer include this feature. Now for the cons

>> There's no option to add any more storage via microSD.
>> Same 5.5in, 1080p AMOLED screen we saw on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The difference is visible when you keep the devices side by side or when using VR.
>> It does not have Optical Image Stablization. ( But then, It has EIS which is good enough) still in low light conditions with shaky hands you will get grainy/ hazy images.
>>It does not have a water resistant rating
>> It does not have wireless charging
>>It does not have a 2k display
>> In 2017 it has a lot off bezel
SOFTWARE TWEAKS AFTER LAUNCH
NOW EIS HAS BEEN ENABLED FOR 4K video at 30 fps and it has really improved. So much so that it in some cases it out performs the flagships having OIS. There have been security patches and bug improvements and one plus also promises to give an android Oreo update so software support is good with OnePlus 5.
SHOULD YOU UPGRADE TO ONEPLUS 5 IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A 3T ??
OP 5 is lot better than 3T and if you were to choose between them I would recommend OP5 hands down.
But if you already own 3T , I don't recommend updating now considering that both the phones have somewhat of a similar performance. You can wait for a few months for the next device which will be a very major upgrade over this year's one plus 5 .
But if you are in the market for buying a new phone you should definitely go for the OP 5 as for a difference of 7000 rupees ( after 3T prices tumbled on Amazon) you get the latest specs with better chip, better RAM, more efficient battery and better rear camera.
GET THE MOST OUT OF OP5 / TIPS AND TRICKS
>> You can set dark theme in settings as the OP5 has optic AMOLED panel it turns off the pixels which are black hence conserves a lot of battery juice
>> Use black themed wallpapers it looks awesome and is easy on the battery
>> In developers option you can reduce the animation speed to get even more snappy response
>> If OTG doesn't work enable it in settings in advanced settings
>> Double-press the power button on the right hand edge to jump straight to the phone’s dual-camera setup ,whether the phone is on or locked.
>> OnePlus hasn’t activated notification pop up option by default, You can activate it. enter Settings > Notifications and hit the Settings icon at the top. Tap the ‘On the lock screen’ option and select ‘Show all notification content’.
>> If I had my way I would have handy shortcuts to everything but there are aplenty to choose from in OP5 ,the home, back, and recent apps key etc. Head to Settings > Buttons and move down to the Home button, Recents button, and Back button headings. Now tap on either ‘Double tap action’ or ‘Long press action’ and you’ll be provided with ten shortcut options.
>> Split screen facility is a boon for the multi taskers who may want to work on two apps simultaneously but needs to be activated. It is in fact one of the options for shortcut keys.
>> When in camera mode swipe left to switch to video recording, swipe right for ‘Depth effect’ mode.
>> Your eyes will thank you if you utilise the reading mode app smartly. There is option for 'Add apps for Reading Mode’ so that it activates automatically when using them. Add Kindle or Kobo to the list.

Is the 8 GB ram on the one plus 5 a gimmick ?
Now this is a question many people are asking so if you compare both the variants there is almost no difference in performance but the difference is in how may apps you can keep in the memory and in the 8 GB variant the difference is clearly visible . Now if you are into multitasking, are into heavy gaming, video rendering, developing apps and would want future proofing, then go for 128 GB variant.
IS IT STILL THE FLAGSHIP KILLER/ Promises vs Reality ?
The answer is both yes and no depending on your perspective . Now the pricing is not that aggressive and there are some things that have been skipped like optical image stabilisation and water resistance and the phone has a non bezel less display and not to mention it is not having a 2k display but still AT THE PRICE it >>>> holds its own among the flagships and still offers a very good value for the money.
Debunking some stuff
1. I have seen reviews in which it is stated that the ram has a slower read write speed than the 3T. While this may be true in exclusion but for practical purposes this ram combined with the chip and the its 2.1 memory offers faster read and write timings over all.
2. The biggest myth is that the video is very shaky as it does not have optical image stabilisation. Now the device supports electronic image stabilisation and it gives more stable video than some flagships having OIS.
The cons are just basically nitpicking and the device holds it's own against the big guns and offers the best value for money in it's price range and is better than the competition.This is the cheapest flagship phone 📱 that can stand up to the super expensive flagships From my side the phone is a must buy and you can absolutely >>>> go for it 👍👍.
