Jagdish Chaturvedy has smartly put forth a road for many of us to follow. While venturing into fields like these, especially in India, there are a lot of challenges one has to overcome. Writer has highlighted all those challenges and has shed a light on his own sweet and bitter experiences while pursuing stand-up comedy. It has only been a while that stand-up comedy has become so popular in our country. So, it is obvious, this road offers a rough ride. But to literally read what goes into the making of a well-known stand-up comedian is a blessing. Anyone who is looking for an extraordinary future and wants to take a different road should go through this book. Plus, words of wisdom from several well-established personalities of this field give an added advantage to the reader. Learning about the journey of writer and his several ups and downs truly inspires and encourages us to pursue what we have been dreaming for so long, but weren't able to muster up the needed courage. Not only does the story encourages us to take our first step but it also highlights how can we begin and proceed on this difficult path to success. Must read, especially for those who dream of becoming stand-up comedians someday.
I have always wondered while reading books by so many successful people in so many different field like entrepreneurship, acting, direction , screenwriting etc , whether it is something I can really get something out of. How do I relate to them, at the same I wondered and expected them to share things about how they actually become that person. I always wanted to know how did they even achieved initial taste of success, because honestly that is what is week at the moment. This book is one such story, author tells us about how he challenged (though unintentionally) the conventional ways of getting into stand up comedy. The scene is so new, jagdish is not only sharing his journey so far, but also brings a good piece of advise by other successful comics , or those who are on their journey to success. He is so cool while he also shares the mistakes he has made in first year of his stand up career. Highly recommended for those who want to get into stand up comedy , it's not about the craft. For me this is like "kuch Bhi ho sakta bhai" version of stand up comedy. Thanks to the author.
Similar to all those Canvas Laughter Club and similar comedy videos this book is quite relatable to us and is based on observations and experience of the author. Few chapters but all well illustrated and content divided well. Fron standup to Joke making whole process is explained. Aimed for Comedians this book is good humourous light reading.
A beautiful book describing the evolution of Stand Up comedy and our author's life over the past year. The story inspires every reader to follow their heart and pursue their passion but at the same time, not forget the practicalities of life.
