About the Author
WILLIAM F. POWELL
William F. Powell is an internationally known artist and one of America's foremost colorists. A native of Huntington, West Virginia, Bill studied in New York; Harrow, England; and the Louvre in Paris, France. He has been a professional artist for more than 45 years. Bill has written and illustrated 13 instructional art books for Walter Foster Publishing, and is the creator of the original Color Mixing Recipe Cards. He has instructed classes and workshops in oil, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, and pastel--covering landscapes, seascapes, portraits and wildlife. His work has been reproduced as prints, collector's plates and contract paintings and illustrations for a variety of publishers. His artwork has been used for major projects in space programs and environmental studies, background sets for films, animated cartoons, and animated computer mockup programs. Bill also produces instructional videos with in-depth demonstration.
Mia Tavonatti received her Master of Fine Arts from California State University, Long Beach. Her education in art was enhanced by studying at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, under the tutelage of Adriene Landel, a renowned French painter. Tavonatti has earned much recognition for her artistic accomplishments, such as the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators Scholarship and a nomination for a Golden Kite Award. Her work has been featured on more than thirty-five book covers. In addition to working as a freelance artist, she teaches illustration classes at the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach, California. She also maintains her passion for travel, spending summers painting in Greece. Recently, she completed a number of murals for restaurants and private residences. Tavonatti currently resides in southern California.

Getting instruction like "block in clouds" doesn't really help, I needed a bit more. I'm glad it worked for some people but if you really are a beginner you may want to select something else.
