First build up the basics than approach for the book. It's better to follow some 10/10+2 grammar book to strengthen ur grammar and "WordPower made easy by Sir Norman Lewis" to strengthen ur Vocab portion though i suggest every student, who r preparing for contemporary exams to first read Norman Lewis than approach this book. But if u r good to go in English than surely buy this book and solve it.
Very bad condition on first day use....when i tried to open the middle chapters to read...the book torn into two halves...i am otherwise a very good book user..i bought wordpower made easy with this and that one is as new as i got(i used it more often) I used the book after 10 15 days so cant return it...i havent used the book for even 3 days and it is already in horrible condition... The book content is very good...u can get it from somewhere else after checking it thoroughly
Worst book ever! Does the author of the book even know what he wrote?Poor choice of words, bad examples..... For English grammar consider purchasing Raymond Murphy's Essential English Grammar. For Idioms & phrasal verbs download apps from Google Play. For meanings & synonyms, purchase WordPower Made Easy of Norman Lewis. All these books are available on Amazon. Don't buy this book. You'll forget what you have already learned.
This book provides a very simple and effective way to prepare for the competitive exams like IBPS, SSC-CGL, etc.. The design is very comprehensive and succinct. It doesn't try to expand the size of the chapters unnecessarily. The questions provided for practice are also of good standard and gives a pretty clear outlook on one's level of preparation. However, in part B of the book the word meanings, one word substitutions, etc. are provided in the dictionary style which is actually difficult to remember in the long run and even more difficult to recall (This is my personal opinion and might vary from person to person). For this purpose I think "WordPower made easy" by Norman Lewis is a good book to develop vocabulary skills. Once the intricacies of the etymology of the english words are understood (from WordPower made Easy) the list of words in the Objective General English will help one to further develop vocab stock.
