Mr. Keller is a successful businessman and has written a book about achieving whatever one wants whether it is spiritual, looking after the body, relationships, work, making money, etc. His recipe is simple 'What is the one thing, that you can do such that by doing it everything else would be easier or unnecessary":
Mr. Keller's recipe is underscored by a number of beliefs and assumptions
1. The common currency available to human beings is time. Therefore, how each individual uses time, determines his or her impact.
2. Extraordinary Things are directly determined by how narrow you make your focus
3. Success comes over a period of time and builds on itself. He uses the analogy of the Domino effect to make his point. So he is emphasising doing the one thing (the right thing) day after day.
4. He also emphasis working on things that individuals feel passionate about. Mastery is something that is very important and he picks on the theme at various places
The very interesting thing that the author emphasises discipline to do the one thing every day. Soon (in 18 to 264 days) it will become a habit and will become naturally. While explaining this, the author makes the point that everybody has limited will power and discipline, because as he says success is about doing the one thing right rather than doing everything right.
There are other interesting themes in the book of focus on the big picture, but actually working the one thing (a small step) to reach the big goal, combination of Purpose, Prioritisation and productivity, Entreprenuership vs Purpusefulness, accountability, etc.
The Book is supported by well known studies and experiments, quotes and anecdotes...so makes for an interesting reading. I give it my highest rating.
a must read Book for everyone who wants to understand what is that "one thing" is important to live life happy productive li
It focuses not only on efficiency(doing things right) but also on effectiveness(doing right thing) and lead a meaningful life.
Definitely recommend having a read to find your One Thing.
What I could not find is - establishing the connection about how less important things can become easy or unnecessary, if we focus on The ONE Thing.
