The auto-locking mechanism is also very robust. The visible serrated portion is plastic despite the electroplating, but the actual locking lugs are steel. I've tested it with both 58- and 30-degree blades, and under pressure the tips will snap before the lock releases.
Oh, and if you're a lefty, just put the blades in upside-down!
- Quality made - what you can expect with Japanese cutlery.
- Performed well for window film. Sturdy and precise. Does not wiggle like all the plastic ones do.
- Sharp, the blades are excellent and NT offers 50 packs of the blades.
- Has a clip for pockets and doubles as a blade snapper.
For those DIYers and crafty pinteresters - this is a perfect cutting tool for you. I got both the 30 and 60 degree model of this item thinking the 60 degree angle would give me the edge (no pun intended) while installing window film. Both worked great but the 60 degree did help with the corners of the windows.
The knife is all-metal and extremely well made. The clicks are finely-spaced making blade length very precise for various tasks from agile, delicate cuts in paper to heavy-duty cuts in wood. The blade snapper stays put but is easy to pop out to snap off the point before popping it back on the back of the knife. The blades are available in large quantity packs which makes this a must buy over the cheap, shoddily made excuses we are offered by other companies.
As far as I'm concerned this is the best and possibly the last utility knife I'll ever buy.
not the best blades though. they are not stainless and will rust. i recommend olfa stainless blades.
the blade that comes with the NT cutter WILL rust.
