The Mysterious affairs at Styles is the first book where we meet the genius and methodical Hercule Poirot , a retired belgian officer of the yard. The book was originally a bet between the author and her friends to write a whodunit where the reader is confounded till the end and we got this gem and more.
Mrs. Inglethorp is the matriarch of the family and is married to a man twenty years her junior much to the chagrin of people around her. Under mysterious circumstances she dies , was it a murder? A case of weak heart? Old age? Poirot detects foul play and the investigation ensues .
Agatha Christie won the bet in its entirety, she gave us a detective who is peculiar but lovable and with a great mind . I will recommend it to the first time readers and those who have already read a lot by the author . A must read
As always, Christie takes the reader in a series of previously unsuspected direction before all is revealed and solved just before the close of the novel.
Would recommend this book to start as a good awesome detective series.
Definitely go for it, a little patience is a must at the beginning for an awesome well explained climax:)
